I saw RSP as a whiskey baron who tormented the other wrestlers on the show with the help of crooked cop Dick Justice before being brought down by the valiant "Orange" Julius Cassidy once so I think he's good actually.

RSP is at least a good guy/not a cringey edgelord unlike Havoc

It's just gonna suck when Shlak, Marcus Crane, and Jimmy Lloyd get booked because those guys aren't that good.

Watching you sleep.

Butt first, let's
check the feeds.

I never understand the Nick Gage thing because I've seen basically nothing of his comeback and current run except for him nearly killing Arquette, so my whole idea of Gage is from old CZW where he just came off like the biggest piece of poo poo tool in a place that basically prided itself on being filled with piece of poo poo tools. Like if I'm remembering right even on guest commentary he'd just consistently storm off after having some random meltdown and be unable to say three sentences without dropping a slur or something.

I believe in reform so like I'm totally open to the idea that he got his poo poo together and people enjoy his act. I'm also open to the theory that it was all an elaborate act he just lived all the way to prison back then. But all I can picture when people talk about Gage is that tool from CZW who I thought was only tolerable when tagging with "the good" brother.

Gage is an anti-authority folk hero with a dangerous aura to him but who is incredibly there for his fans and happy about people supporting him and apparently a real good dude now that he's sober.

His brother is a much bigger actual tool than Gage.

Nick Gage had a horrible drug problem, went to prison and got out at a time when people are increasingly seeing the drug war and prison industrial complex for what they are. Fans see a super charismatic guy like Gage who kills themselves for the fans and tells the fans they love him and like him. Because how can you not at least respect that a little when a guy kills himself for you and tells you he is doing it all for you and loves you?

Gage’s best match was against Greshem on one of the powerbomb shows. Tiny little octopus man vs rampaging monster convict is something out of a comic book.
That was on the "Wazzup" show and it was really good, yes.

His Beyond and AIW stuff will probably give you the most looks for him, because they're two different types of non-deathmatch indies where he does a good bit of non-deathmatch stuff but is a regular who is as over as anyone there.

Friends don't shake hands, friends gotta hug!

my key pre-robbery nick gage memory was him and his brother dangerously throwing necro butcher face first over the top rope onto the floor on a czw show and hearing necro's head thump off the concrete in the arena

post-release, gage is easily the most charismatic guy on the indies, with the aforementioned dangerous aura, folk hero persona, and legitimate appreciation for the fans, and probably the best brawler outside of mexico, deathmatch or not

basically all his matches in beyond have ruled, his tacks match against g-raver especially owned, and his commentary on the david starr/joey janela deathmatch with matt tremont was really good and endearing.

i honestly can't get over how great that gcw show on saturday was though. it was my first live deathmatch show and it's like why bother with any other wrestling ever again, holy poo poo. why isn't alex colon the biggest name in the world? also the tease with lloyd, gage, shlak, crane, etc at the end of the show, i didn't think the guys with records would be able to work japan?

This too, and I'll add that the stuff about loving the fans isn't shtick. There are few wrestlers who are more giving with their time to fans after shows than Gage, who is basically in Matt Riddle territory as far as that goes, but often isn't even selling gimmicks.

pre-robbery Nick Gage cut a promo while dying. Like legit, his eyes were going glassy and he passed out for a second during the promo.

Post-jail, he came back jacked, clear headed and did great business on his return for multiple feds. Meng even requested a rematch with him because the tag they did was so much fun. I'm pretty sure pre-robbery Gage would have been murdered by Meng.

I dunno, I gotta give some respect to a dude that nearly loving died for my entertainment and is making the most of his opportunities.

Nick Gage overcame the three of the most corrupt and evil capitalist systems in America (Healthcare, Justice, Prison) and gets to make a living doing something he is extremely passionate about. If you can't respect that you're a loving cop and need to stay in the WWE thread

turn it all around

When I first asked my question, I was just curious as to why anybody was excited to watch a Nick Gage match because all the ones I've seen have been boring and not very good. I'll check out the recommendations from some folks in the thread and see what's up!

I'm not crapping on his personal life or any triumphs he's overcome, or how much he loves the fans – I'm just bored by him when he's in the ring. I assume I'd feel different if I followed his career at all before this latest resurgence.

I will say, he got a room full of people to yell "gently caress SAMI CALLIHAN" over the weekend and for that I applaud him.

Robbing a bank like Heat = very cool.

Robbing a bank in your wrestling gear to feed your addiction to opiates = that’s not cool.

the irony of nick gage is he works too light for his straight-ahead matches to be particularly compelling outside of his charisma. where he excels is deathmatches and authentic promos
