precision posted:The best advice isn't "be aggressive" it's actually "never fight fair". Only engage squads that are fighting each other, etc. Works for me. Do both. The sooner you are ready to fight, the easier it is to catch other squads unaware. So take your first fight early, even without optimal or nearly optimal gear. Then yeah, clean up other firefights when you can.

But that won't work and your squad can't be eliminated that quickly by a single person. So it's Wraith. Her benefits have been mentioned already but one thing to add to the "smaller hitbox" part is that at some points while moving, the character will bend at the waist to almost a 90 degree angle to do anime-running. By far, the smallest hitbox when doing that.

The only heirloom in the game right now is a knife for wraith when you holster your guns, and everyone knows you run faster with your knife out, so it's really a no brainer that you'd want one

They are desirable because they are shiny and there aren't many of them, and it happened exactly on the literal 500th crate because he had not gotten an heirloom before then. The game guarantees you loot of a certain rarity within a certain number of boxes opened, for example you can't go 30 boxes without a legendary, if you open 29 in a row and get none, then the 30th is guaranteed. https://www.ea.com/games/apex-legends/about/frequently-asked-questions#q3  Edit: It is rather telling that the threshold they've set for the heirlooms is as high as 500.

Got my first win last night. Felt really good but my team was extremely lucky. The circle converged onto the bunker, and my team was in there first and we dug in hard. It converged again to the west of it, and the only other remaining squad was on the wrong side of it, so they had to come through us. We had every advantage here. We stalled them until it started to close and they triggered our Caustic's traps, I threw some therms, and that was that.

New patch, brand new crash and yesterday I thought I finally had the crashes/disconnecs figured out by lowering every setting to low AND playing in windowed borderless, also underclocking my GPU. No other game would I put up with this much bullshit to get it working, I mean props to the team for making a great shooter. But I'm really starting to hit that tipping point where I'm tired of having a bunch of fun and only have it be hosed up by a crash. Like I'm starting to second guess starting the game up because 'meh most likely you'll have a fun game and than won't be able to see it through so whats the loving point' i've completely given up on the idea of playing with goons because of the crashes, so I feel like im stuck in gaming purgatory

For some reason my sudden, unexplained crashes usually happen when I've had a really good landing with a competent team and wiped one or two squads within the first minutes. It's very frustrating.

So good that it literally detracts from a locked character's ultimate as Mirage can be hurt while invisible while Wraith gets it as her Q.

I tried restarting, and before the restart I hit 'repair' in origin just to make sure this was my first match gently caress e- before this game I had never seen the bad_module_info crash. now, now it's the thing that haunts me

I have 7 wins, and I have managed to get carried by pubbies in each one of them. I'm genuinely impressed with how this game is made, that someone like me who isn't really super great at shooters can still be a contributor and part of a winning squad.

My very first game as Caustic ended with the only remaining team hiding in a tiny little room, circle on one side and us on the other. I popped my ult but wasn't sure if it would go through the closed door between us and them, so I kept opening the door to let gas waft in and the other team would close it in a panic. It was really funny and I'm glad they were bad, because otherwise they could have just killed me while I was laughing at the scene. Eventually my teammate and I just stood outside the door and poured Devotion rounds in for the win. Can't imagine a better start to my Caustic play.
