just got back from the born of osiris/chelsea grin show, where i showed up right after CG and wound up paying actual money to see a single loving band, but it was worth it because BoO was pretty phenomenal

The Ghost Inside just announced a "Save the Date" for July 13, 2019, in LA. Doesn't say specifically what's happening, but potentially their first concert in years? As a huge fan of theirs I'll absolutely be buying a flight out there just to see them live again. Too hyped for this.

I really dig TGI. I think most everyone in here likes them except Shoog and well he hates everything

I listened to Get What You Give a decent amount back when it first dropped, but it never clicked enough to get into regular rotation. Dear Youth was basically the same story. But, thanks to this thread, I recently gave Fury and the Fallens Ones a spin and, holy poo poo, I dig the ever loving hell out of it.

Oh poo poo, new Black Matter Device: https://blackmatterdevice.bandcamp.com/album/hostile-architecture Their release last year was one of my favs. This one seems just as awesome (about halfway through).

Fury is a loving front to back banger and easily my favorite TGI You also didn’t mention Returners which has some great tracks

my coworker was just talking about this punk rock mba guy a week or two ago, he seems to really know his poo poo it didnt strike me at the time, but yea i remember when someday came suddenly came out and being blown away at how different it sounded from everything else at the time. i didnt realize until now just how much of an impact they had on all the bands that followed, but it's really obvious in hindsight i remember listening to it again maybe last year and boy howdy it does not hold up super well nowadays, but i loving loved it 10 years ago e: been listening to this album that dropped today, it's fun deathcore https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IVpWX5jGqNs kumba fucked around with this message at 22:15 on Feb 22, 2019 |

Phil is a chud, this can't be a surprise anymore. The last 2 or 3 ATR albums are basically Call of Duty soundtracks and they toured with FFDP, lol Absolute dumpster band but I will never stop listening to This Darkened Heart and The Fall of Ideals

Phil's vocal range is completely wasted now, sad Also Jason Richardson's talent will now be completely wasted, double sad

Actually I have to say that as much as the new ATR is god-awful, Phil's vocals and screaming are still pretty on-point when they need to be.

Phil as a muscleman is still novel and funny to me because when I saw them touring This Darkened Heart and Fall of Ideals he was just tiny and could not have been more than like 140lbs max

Code Orange and Knocked Loose definitely have more of an "edge" to them in terms of music style. I always associated PTW as being more melodic post-hardcore with breakdowns or whatever. KL is straight up mosh hardcore and CO are weirdo industrial nu-metal with breakdowns. Dissonant hardcore is the closest I can think in terms of the PTW sound. I really love Axis and you should listen to them regardless: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IF7rthIVbvM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MgtOixwY780 PTW contemporaries, This Day Forward, are one of the best bands in that specific subgenre: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aIBFMUkwoJY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qMRXAZdmWKc
