Lipstick Apathy
This seems like the right thread. So I'm really into circuit-party-style tribal progressive house / electro-disco-pop mishmash (with enormous diva vocals), especially the stuff coming out of the gay scene in Israel.

Yinon Yahel and Winnie Pootz are some names.

Offer Nissim, however, is the reigning king from the Israeli scene and his Hanukkah show is up:

I hope I look like that when I'm in my 50s.

Hi!
I'm making a trancy track and need some inspiration. What's some good sorta agressive trance nowadays? okay, I think trance is too cheesy.

Basicly something sounding similar to THIS. I guess Deadmau5 isn't too disimilar. Any other suggestions?

Hi!
I've been quite fond of Axel Boman for some time. He runs Studio Barnhus together with Kornél Kovács & Petter Nordkvist, and aside from that, he just makes some really nice tunes.

He's probably best known for his breakthrough hit Purple Drank from 2010, but I prefer his more recent, and more subtle, releases, such as Moon Dancer, In the Dust of This Planet and Maribou State - 'The Clown' feat. Pedestrian (Axel Boman Remix). He also teams up with John Talabot every now and then under the moniker Talaboman, who included this on last years The Night Land.

Enjoy!

Who doesn't like Kraftwerk? They were such a huge influence on so many genres of music. I really started getting into them when I found out how much influence they had on hip-hop, specifically producers like Dr. Dre, J Dilla, and Madlib.

I've got a few of their albums on vinyl including Electric Cafe, Computer World, Autobahn, and a compilation album. Still need to find Trans Europe Express!

Late 80s-2000 hip-hop is my favorite music so they've always been in the background, but the first time I heard them proper is when I was reading trivia about the old Mike Myers "Sprockets" sketch, how the theme song was "Electic Cafe" sped up lol

While I was binging on World of Warships a couple years ago I listened to their entire catalogue chronologically, and it's just great. The run of classic albums from Trans-Europe Express to Electric Cafe/Techno Pop is outstanding. The way they put emotion into primitive synthesizers is unique. Been listening to "Neon Lights" a lot lately. The Man Machine is in my top three favorite albums atm

Oh what the hell? This is great, but yeah, this is what I wanted from him like a decade ago. That first album was...okay I guess? Not very memorable. I think I listened to the whole thing once or twice. Couldn't name a single track from it that really stuck out to me now. But this...this is the style of his I fell in love with ~12 years ago.

It's not like I think artists can't change their styles. Some pull it off incredibly well. But I prefer this style (his original) to his different style on the first album. From what I remember, it was more atmospheric/cinematic sounding, and that's just not what I listened to Danger for at all.

How come it took so long for him to put this out? I don't know why he didn't put out an album back in like 2008 or so. The hype that was building around him was pretty big back then. I remember he put out a few EPs. But then he didn't come out with anything for years, then that first album wasn't what I wanted, so I had just kinda moved on from Danger and gave up the expectation that he'd release something I really wanted to hear.

But like you said, this is an extension of the poo poo he was putting out back in the MySpace days and it owns. I loving love tracks like 0:46, 16:56, 6:03, 88:88 Stage 3 the Club and 13:13. This is poo poo I absolutely would have blasted in my car a decade ago, and I'm sure I will now in 2019 too. I mean hell, even the cover art looks like something he would've used a decade ago. Maybe he even teased this back in the MySpace days? It looks familiar.

This scratches a similar itch for me as stuff like Perturbator and Carpenter Brut and Mega Drive, artists who kinda filled in the gap left by Danger not putting out the kind of stuff I wanted from him.

Aside from getting shot in the head, David, what have you done with yourself?
Yeah, I feel the same way. July 2013 wasn't great then Taiko was a total flop to me. I'm all for artists doing new things, but he even came to Seattle to play live and I didn't care (went up to B.C. to see him back in 2011 or so, so I at least saw him once back in his heyday) It is great to hear the old songs in high quality, but I'm years past when I was really into his music and I think he hurt himself by waiting this long. The art is cool, but I still like his more handdrawn stuff of the old EPs opposed to the CG looking stuff now. I always assumed 9h20 wasn't going to get a release because it is kind of a ripoff of a song from Battletoads in Battlemaniacs:

Hey I've always thought that Daft Punk's "Prime Time of Your Life," sampled "Pony" from Ginuwine but I can't find any documentation about it. I'm not sure but I don't think so. I think the Yeah in Prime Time of Your Life is a thick layer of talkbox + vocoder + another synth. It's a texture that's all over that album. Timbaland did something similar for Pony, so they have similar formants (along with them both saying "yeah").

Crosspost from the DJ Thread in ML:

I've started a new series of mixes, completely unplanned across four decks. I'm recording them with video from a Sony FDR-X3000 Action Camera on my head (later down the line I might grab another camera for a second angle), but unfortunately I've run into a few snags, chiefly among them being that Chew.TV is having hosting issues and my video uploads have been 'pending' for a week now.

So here's the audio for the first two test runs:
ACTION STATIONS (test mixes)

One mix is Bass House & Breaks, the other is Drum & Bass.

You'll notice that there are a few pops & clicks in the audio; I think it's time to give up on the S/P-DIF connection between my DJM900 and Scarlett 18i20. Other than working out that kink (and Chew.TV fixing their poo poo), in the future these mixes will be longer, and obviously will have video - maybe even in 4K if I can figure out why the camera is overheating and fix it.

Anyone know of any other video hosting/streaming platforms similar to Chew.TV?

Video is finally live for one of the test-runs mixes I recorded with an action cam on my head. Oddly, it's not the D&B one I uploaded over a week prior.

Enjoy what ~22 minutes of unplanned Breaks and Bass House selections across four decks looks like from my POV. Or don't.
