Zwabu posted:See I disagree with this. For instance, the thing that happens to Suzy's friend at the end of the original Suspiria, that poo poo is, to me, a thousand times worse than any death, maiming or torture that a bunch of skinheads could inflict upon me. I just said it could be scarier not that it is. I think rampage has the scariest scene I’ve ever seen, but I wouldn’t call that a horror at all. Also it keeps following me and I hate it ^^**

Since I grew up in the boondocks, weird movies were hard to find. Growing up, I had only one Godzilla movie Godzilla vs. The Sea Monster Which, if you are gonna have only one Godzilla, is a loving weird one to have

i maintain that most romantic comedies could be turned into horror films with the addition of, like, a single scene at the end and a few tweaks to the score
|

I'd say watch the original Suspiria first because it's more of a mystery, unless you already know the plots.

I’m not gonna lie I was checked out after that scene. I really don’t enjoy feeling that uncomfortable from a film.

Yeah I live in Chicago so it was a lot of fun to watch. Like 'I ATE AT THAT RESTAURANT THE WOLF DESTROYED!" It's just a horror movie absolute fact that any movie set in your home city or where you live is just a little bit better because of it . Prove me wrong.

I got into a fun conversation with a buddy at work today, and though I might open it up to the Spook-A-Doodle thread: What's your pick for a great scene in an otherwise terrible movie? You know what I mean; you're watching a horror flick, its pacing drags, it has terrible acting, zero budget. All that fun stuff. And then suddenly there's this one really engaging thing that pops up out of nowhere. The whole discussion initially kicked off talking about the phone call scene from The Mothman Prophecies: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=INtbv3cd1BA Most of the movie barely registers a pulse, but then there's this creepy little one-off scene right in the middle that feels like it was pulled from a completely different film.

I thought Godzilla 2014 was kinda meh in the theater, but coming back to it with my expectations adjusted made me really like it. Like, we've got shitzillions of Godzilla movies that have the big G himself as the main focus, a movie that's basically just about people trying to deal with the carnage is legitimately a new and weird and cool thing. And G14 does it pretty well, even if Shin Godzilla did it better (though, Shin straight up wouldn't exist without G14 iirc, so...)

I watched The House That Jack Built. I was absolutely captured by it. Dillon was fantastic, possibily one of the better performances of the year for me. I do not need to watch it again, because it really was the whole trip that took me a long, but what an experience.
