in about:config you can set media.autoplay.default to 1 in order to block automatic playback on all pages or set it to 2 to decide on a per domain basis.

Weird. You used to be able to fully control that setting via the UI, but you can't anymore in the beta version of Firefox. The UI lets you set it to 0 or 1, but not 2 anymore.

Yeah, and it's broken. It doesn't stop youtube or twitch from autoplaying, which both seem like pretty major sites you'd want to test on.

If you're on ESR v60 that setting does nothing and you still want media.autoplay.enabled, which when set to false stops youtube and everything else

Was just about to ask, does this work on YouTube as well? Chrome has a similar flag in chrome://flags/#autoplay-policy and it doesn't work reliably, either.

I'm on Firefox 65 and with media.autoplay.default set to 2 nothing plays on its own, I have to click it first. That includes YouTube. This is on Windows and Android.

I see where your problem is,  is running in incognito mode. Reset it by clicking on the  . Aaaaaand, we're back. Reddit was all over this and there was already code on GitHub. Thankfully I'm not the only person who loves multirow tabs. Amazingly, the upgrade didn't even touch my multirow bookmarks or aything else. For modern Firefox, that's pretty much as painless as it gets.

Firefox always changes focus when I control+click or middle click a bookmark on the bookmarks bar. Is there a way to stop this? It doesn't seem to respect the "When you open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately" checkbox in the Options page.

I have basically the opposite fullscreen problem; my Firefox is normally a smaller window, but if I exit Firefox while in F11 fullscreen it opens maximized next time. Then, if I un-maximize it, its regular size has become as large as it can get on the screen so I have to manually shrink it down.

I used to have that problem several years ago, but eventually it went away on its own so I can't say what fixed it. From a quick Google, try deleting xulstore.json? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/changes-toolbars-and-window-sizes-are-not-saved

On a Windows shortcut, you can right-click, Properties, and then there's a box named "Run", where you can set it to startup Maximized. At least on Windows 7. Still, even though my shortcut is set to "Normal window", FF remembers that it's supposed to be maximized every time, but I don't know where that setting is saved. An incredible amount of websites have just this very thin column of content with the surrounding areas being just a background (or ads if you're not running a blocker). Might as well shrink down the window so you can look at stuff to the side of it. Especially if you're not using multiple monitors.

I've got three monitors, and I still keep my viewport set to about 1280 wide. Two of them are on top though. I use Displayfusion to reset FF to its proper size and position when I un-maximize it, because I really don't trust it to do it itself.
