They are opening for Passion Pit in the spring, but $35 for an opener set at a large venue is meh.

That track is certainly more pop-ish.

So I joked with them on twitter about touring with beaches, tagged the beachea in the post, and they got in on the conversation. The idea has been planted!

the last line really makes it. "fake indie": Beach House. "real indie": The National.

one of my least favourite Fantano things is that he has a series on one of his channels that’s just him “taking down” articles on music sites he thinks are bad like he’s some elite all-knowing loving arbiter of criticism

fantano has introduced me to a bunch of music that I like and the goon pile-on every time his name is brought up is soooo corny

Shut up DUMMY
The fact that Fantano worships SUNN 0))) (they are fine but to LOVE them like he does) and shits on a lot of really good stuff because of his nit picky nature makes most all of his opinions invalid for me even if I do think he is very knowledgeable and spends a lot of time researching and knowing what the hell he is talking about.

That Holly Herndon song is kind of cool imo, the video hurts the quality of the song.

Yeah for real. I don't always agree with his opinions, in fact I disagree with them pretty often. But like he was the one who turned me onto Kamasi Washington whose album The Epic ended up being my favorite album of 2015. It's also because of him that I listen to Swans, Daughters, BROCKHAMPTON, SOPHIE and many other artists.

I can't hate the dude because he's influenced my music tastes in a significant way.

I had a blast making this record, and those folks are all in my personal hall of fame for being good people. Posted in the vinyl thread about it when I got the records delivered, but today is the street date!

I used to be carried in the arms of cheerleaders
I've adopted the stance that I'm happy they're making money for the music they gave me in 2013-16, even if they stuff they make from here on out isn't for me anymore.

Love Is Dead is their American Idiot in a way

That early stuff was a jam, though. I still remember seeing them in Webster Hall and people in the crowd dancing even as the lights came up because of the show's energy. And that was before Lauren really even came out of her shell

So much for Chvrches being an actual unit, given that Marshmello song with just Lauren on vocals and no contributions from the out-of-focus guys.

I like that Marshmello track v:shobon:v

It only came out like a week ago and I already find myself randomly whistling it.

It's a Marshmello track featuring Lauren anyway, not a CHVRCHES track. I don't really think I dislike any song Lauren has contributed vocals to.

I loved their old stuff, but also Love Is Dead was one of my favorite albums of last year!

And hey, when a synthpop group can release a beautiful stripped-down EP like this, it proves that they're not just a one trick pony.
