He will be from now on. (One hopes they'll sick to their guns about that, although ComicsGate "legal counsel" Nick Rekieta has raised a 100K+ for Vic's legal woes.

The GFM page is pretty hilarious:

Yeah I think it's disingenuous to treat the movie in a vacuum and claim the air force stuff is a tiny part of it when they're clearly targeting the larger marketing and potentially even merchandising apparatus attached to the film.

I honestly wouldn't fret too much over Vic getting to finish off the movie after he got rightfully dragged out into the spotlight. From Funimation's position it just would've been far easier to finish the drat thing and then give Vic the boot. Otherwise it'd be expensive to recast, re-record, and re-edit the drat thing so late in production to the point it might well be cheaper to just drop the movie altogether.

Can you loving imagine how wild you'd go if she Gohan/Cell beam struggles Thanos or something in endgame

I'm really confused that people are leaning so hard on "MS MARVEL IS AIR FORCE PROPAGANDA!!!!! IT'S AIR FORCE PROPAGANDA!!!!!" when it's been known and common for over a decade that movies that use military hardware have to get military approval for everything in the movie ever.

Like, yeah, it's propaganda-y. We know. We have known that this is a thing for forever. Why is it suddenly a tremendous issue for this one particular movie, where people weren't this weird about it for previous MCU blockbusters?

NB I am not approving of military propaganda in movies and would prefer people just make tanks and planes out of cardboard and duck tape rather than let the military set the tone, I'm just really weirded out that suddenly this is the great military propaganda film, and not any of the ones that went before.

It's one of those things where if you haven't seen it you'll assume it came out of nowhere but there's been discourse around the military's relationship with hollywood movies, especially superhero movies, for a long time now.

It seems to be different parties of people arguing it. So they way I'm seeing it; You've got the one that says the movie is air force propaganda and they're looking at the trailer and the air force, CIA, MI6, Spetznaz, Chinese Triad, Springfield Police Department, Canadian Mounties and whoever else are tweeting saying 'Boy Captain Marvel sure was great, maybe consider a career in the military!' And like food brands communicating like they're people they go GROSS.

And you've got the group talking this all literally and saying 'What're you talking about the entire Air Force part of it is like 8 minutes and it only works as propoganda if the part in Robocop where Murphy gets gunned down works as advertising to join the Detroit Police Department.' Because they're just going by what was in the movie directly and with no part of it being like 'Join the military today!' they don't see it as propoganda since the military doesn't swoop in and save the day at any point like they do in Transformers. So it doesn't even seem like standard superhero story where the military stomps in and says they'll handle it and proceed to be ineffectual.

I mean I'm not sure of any of this but I feel like people are arguing things coming from different perspectives on it.

It's not that it's a new thing, it's that it's pretty much a new level of gross to go from 'wow bombers are basically super heroes riiiiight guys?' to 'THIS. MOVIE. IS. IMPORTANT. BECAUSE. IT. SHOWS. LADIES. BOMBING!'

Like, the loving Simpsons even made fun of poo poo like this ages ago but it keeps happening and it's fair to say it's especially weird to rebrand their military humping as woke.

Also people did make fun of other movies for doing this kinda stuff too.

The big difference (at least for me) this time around is that Captain Marvel is actively, aggressively being used as a vehicle for air force propaganda, by way of television ads and interviews, instead of merely being a piece of media that portrays military hardware.

I'm sure this isn't the first time that has happened, but it is the first time where it has felt so blatant and oppressive.
