We have one named Fast Eddie. He's a very important part of our towns social and cultural scene. Kind of a big deal, really:

So does your town have any local celebrities?

Bruce Willis grew up in my home town and went to high school there. He doesn't visit much, but there is a really good sandwich shop in town that claims it has the greatest cheesesteak, according to the man himself and they have a bunch of posters of his movies and poo poo.

There was a kid (Josh Shortslef) who was a couple of years ahead of me in school who was really good in baseball, so much so he got drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates (in 2000) and moved within their farm system. I can't remember if he ever got to play a major league game, but every game he played was talked about all over the place. Everyone was so proud that someone from our dumb little farm town made it somewhere. I think he eventually just ended up retiring in 2009 because of injuries. He was traded to some Philadelphia Phillies minor league team and they eventually released him.

His brother, Jacob, is now in the minor leagues. Since I moved out of state, I don't hear much on him unless I specifically go to check on him (which I totally hadn't until I was looking up his brother).

Otherwise, the next best thing is that I lived about 45 minutes north of Syracuse, NY. Then that feels like cheating with Tom Cruise, Richard Gere, Bobcat Goldthwait, the Baldwins (actually saw Stephen Baldwin at the Dinosaur BBQ when I worked downtown), etc.

the city i live in has a guy who is quite famous in a specific industry and who is very rich.

it's an expat community in asia so rich and poor do mingle here but literally everybody hates him (especially the people that work for him, but they get fired if they don't constantly kiss his rear end so they won't admit it until they inevitably lose their job). i have not met a single person that doesn't work there that doesn't hate him

One of my clients was apparently known around town as "Mad Frankie" when he was younger and the town was small enough to have community. He is intellectually disabled and earned this nickname and celebrity status for two reasons: 1) his extreme willingness to fight and argue with people, and 2) his fanatical devotion to the local football team. Nowadays his severe epilepsy has caused such extensive mental decline that he is wheelchair bound and has almost no memory, but if I wheel him around town we still occasionally have some older locals come up to say hello (he responds super friendly but in keeping with his nickname is easily and accidentally provoked to argument and poorly coordinated attempts at violence).

Some girl from my town got minor fame as a teenage model and dated Anthony Kiedis when she was like 16 or 17 and he was in his mid 30s. We didn't think it was weird at the time

Oh, we also have Famous Sharon , who is famous just for comedically claiming to be famous and for being very friendly and approachable. She has hustled that limited skillset into featuring in local business advertising and numerous guest roles and walk ons for local shows and charity/fundraising gigs.
