This is a completely predictable show so far (e4) with a bunch of absolute dumbass characters (who are all written as fragments of the same person), but unlike say Marvel shows it doesn't forget to be consistently entertaining or to move the plot along.

Rumor is def S tier, but she chooses not to use her powers. Klaus is the most interesting character for sure and possibly the most powerful. I feel like Diego will be more explored in the second season, and the ability to curve knives is a great super power. Hazel is my favorite because he is the literal "everyman", complaining about corporate cutting benefits and such and then ultimately doing the right thing.

I like the actor who played 5, but I just didn't get why he wouldn't just be upfront from the beginning. Also, if Vanya blowing up the moon was the apocalypse and 5 was on Earth post-apocalyse for so many years, how did he not notice the moon was hosed up and link the two, which would provide more of a motivation for Luther to dig into that line of questioning.

I think what we've seen has established that there are many ways the Apocalypse has happened, but it's always caused by Vanya. So 5's apocalypse wasn't necessarily the moon one.

Who the gently caress is Grace? Is that the donut lady? Anyway, the show was ok and decently entertaining. I’ve heard a lot of people talk about how good the music is, but I thought it was mostly kind of bad. Robert Sheehan is a very good looking man. I will probably watch season 2.

Agnes is the donut lady, Grace is Mom, so yeah that list is confusing unless they are calling Grace post reboot Mom or something like that.

I for one liked the show.
I felt the characters were a good portrayal of what kind of adults would come from that kind of upbringing.

I know goons are bad at watching TV shows but it's based on a comic so you have to watch it like you would Preacher.

Doom patrol is episode 5 out of 15 and somewhat episodic while umbrella academy was released all at once and while each episode feels more like it's own story than stranger things episodes its still a "the whole season is a movie" kind of thing

Doom patrol is also somewhat lower budgeted and more comic book like. And while ua is on a service you probably have, doom patrol you're going to have to pay 8 a month for DC's service.

But I really like doom patrol so far. I like its drama better. But I don't think I could speak for anyone else.

Yes. It has good pacing, which is the primary criticism of all comic book shows on any streaming service, its well acted, great direction, and has several relatable characters. It has a good soundtrack, and sets up a second season with an actual goal in mind as opposed to just spinning it's wheels. The various dance scenes are amazing on their own.

I never read Preacher the comic and don’t intend to, but that show is amazing and the characters are pretty much all interesting and/or funny.

I turned this one off halfway into the second episode because the dialog was terribly written and also why the gently caress did they include a talking chimp.

The comic was sillier and weirder and they grounded a lot of things but the chimp turns out to be a good character and there's a reason that he is a chimp

I think my biggest problem motivation-wise was Cha-cha's insane, pointless refusal to let Hazel run away and all the time-wasting surrounding that plot. I frequently had smaller issues with little throwaway filler lines just not making any sense in the moment to me; those were less about the overall plot direction and it's hard for me to pull them out weeks after goin through the show.

Yeah Hazel is the weakest part. They try to make us sympathize with a murderer and a torturer and make us believe he has repented.
I think most of what the main cast does is still justifiable and very interesting.

Yeah. Plus it's a silly show. The trope of "hyper competent assassin duo who act like regular degular shlubs and complain about things like their hotel rooms" is old and common. The juxtaposing of "hardened killer" with "big donut fan" in a single person is like, the entire point.

Another example would be the Old Firm in Pratchett's Discworld.

Yeah, she decided not to kill him at first because she thought his speech in the woods was about her. But then she realized he was talking about donut lady and got real malicious after that.

I didn't really care about those either of those characters much though. I wouldn't be sad if we never saw them again.
