Based on this discussion, do you think drawing is a measure of greatness in 2019? Like you mentioned all those things that made a ton of money, but everyone knows they suck. In wrestling, you can talk about a great angle with great matches, but if it didn't draw, it sucks. The goal of pro wrestling is to make money to a lot of traditional fans. I'm not sure myself. I know that New Japan made a ton of money in 2018, and received critical success, so it being a big draw matters. WWE had its best financial year ever, and now drawing doesn't matter. Who knows now

Here's the thing: WWE isn't drawing. Their house show and TV attendance, and the TV ratings are dropping. Their profitability has nothing to do with whether the product is good or working.

WWE is more of a content farm than a wrestling promotion these days. There's a reason they care more about "hours watched on the Network" than actual Network subscriber numbers.

Being a public company and having the network throws out a lot of the reasons thinking where something needs to be a draw because the only way to turn a profit is butts in seats. Their biggest income comes from tv deals and network subs, producing lots of content is honestly more important to them then producing great content.

Also did you see how empty the arena was? I think they might like to have a bit of a DNA change, if it means butts in seats. I don't know that Cody and Bucks will mean that, but maybe.
