the romance stuff is super terrible.

However, the worst late-season stuff is just showing off how affluent the showrunners were. "treat yourself!! you can just buy stuff! yea!"

What's the story with Rob Lowe?

God, comedy is a loving mess, isn't it?

The first one (Season 3) at least made sense. Donna is independently wealthy, Tom was in credit card debt, and Ben was a talented accountant who obsessively saved a decent government salary, and he finds the whole thing baffling. The seventh season one is a mess because it makes no sense for the characters and their situation.

Is that the same one where he sucked his friend's dick? Seem to remember hearing about that, but not the underage part. Also something about that not being allowed to be joked about at his roast.

Parks and Rec is really funny. Aziz doesn't even do anything in the show. He's all talk.

Season 1 does suck. You can skip it. But it's weird when Louis CK shows up playing a cop.

I was originally one of those "Parks and Rec is better than The Office because its more fun!!!" people but I was basing that on having only seen a few random segments of The Office without context. Later my friend convinced me to watch The Office straight through (protip: you can skip season 1 completely) and I've now watched the entire thing three times and have never once re-watched a single Parks and Rec episode. I now can't stand how saccharine it is, how hard it tries to be quirky, how none of the characters ever speak like real people, how everything works out for every character to the point of being insulting to the audience.

There’s apparently two Rob Lowe sex tapes. The one with the minor, and the one that’s a consensual bi threesome.

And yeah what really makes Parks and Rec a pain later on is how everything has to work out for everyone. Always Sunny barely holds up because the gang has always sucked and keeps sucking.

I liked Andy and April as dysfunctional children. I liked Leslie as a delusional, narcissistic bureaucrat. I liked Tom as a laughingstock. I don’t need or want all of these idiots getting paired off and raising kids and having happy endings. Also, by the end, Pawnee might as well be Springfield in that the whole town is just the same fotating bit characters brought back over and over.

April groaning at how boring they’ve become in the last season holds up

Iirc he didn’t do anything illegal to be exonerated of, just kind of displayed the sort of oblivious, aggressive straight guy pushiness that loads of non famous dudes do every day.

So, certifies him as an rear end in a top hat (or former rear end in a top hat, maybe’s he’s changed) but yeah it fell out of the spotlight pretty quick in a world where Cosbys and Saviles exist. Unfortunately lots of people take from that “Aziz did nothing wrong” rather than “Aziz did things quite wrong but hey at least he isn’t drugging people to rape them or loving corpses.”

There’s nothing to be exonerated of, he’s just a creep. The thing that worked in his favor was that the piece was horribly written and did the woman a horrible disservice.

This right here. My wife put P&R on as her background noise show, and nowadays it carries that undercurrent of "If we leave things alone and not worry too much it'll all work out" that looks downright quaint these days. Plus the whole multiple sexpests thing.

I could never get into The Office. It reminds me too much of Always Sunny in that it's about horrible people doing horrible things, but, unlike Sunny, they never really face the horrible consequences of their horrible actions, instead being treated as misunderstood heroes. The Scott's Tots bit was the worst of it and made me a little sick after watching Michael get exonerated by the writers by singing the song the kids sang to him as a thank you in the car afterwards.

All of this talk about NBC shows makes me wonder how Community aged, or at least the good seasons.

Everything everyone is saying about parks and rec is 100 percent real but holy poo poo, the bit where Leslie sings the entirety of Will Smith's "parents just don't understand" while Ron is trying to tell her there's a guy on fire at one of their parks? That bit is funny as hell

I rewatched Community recently. Still hilarious, although the Jeff/Annie stuff is still kinda yikes, and I have no idea why they changed Britta from her Season 1 incarnation.

Also weird to realize the giant disparity in success among the cast, like the Russo Brothers moving on to the biggest of big blockbusters and Ludwig Gorannson now being Academy Award winner Ludwig Gorannson.

The "Fluoride" episode of Parks and Rec has aged pretty well in my opinion. Leslie and Tom trying to convince people of the health benefits of fluoride against a flood of misinformation and people being scared of "chemicals" is a great comment on the anti-vaxx movements that are currently rising in popularity.

Over half the cast of parks and rec are people I wouldn't even want to be near in real life. April is a horrible surly teenager, Andy was fun before they paired him up with April and then he was also a horrible mentally challenged teenager, Tom is just a gigantic horrible loving rear end in a top hat, Jerry is old and useless and is the kinda person you just wanna avoid, Ron would be incredibly tedious to be around, Leslie even more so. Ben and Donna would be the only OK people to be around

You don't even have to go that far to find the commentary; real-life (sort of) cities like Portland refuse to fluoridate their drinking water because of this poo poo.
