I love that What So Not track; that's a fantastic singer, and it's the first time I've heard of her. I've always loved What So Not and particularly Flume, but even though he's no longer involved it's nice to see Emoh is still cranking out bangers. 😍

Edit: And the music video for it was just released!

12+ years ago this dude started putting stuff out on myspace. It took 10 years to get an album and by that point he'd switched up his style, fans whined and whined so he's put out a 2nd album which should've been his first... There's a lot of unreleased stuff on there that I heard him play live on the 2 occasions I got to see him years ago. If synths and arpeggios are your thing, take a listen.

Copy/pasting my response from the House/Synth thread in case anyone talks about it here instead of that dead thread, even though I've never really considered Danger EDM:

Oh what the hell? This is great, but yeah, this is what I wanted from him like a decade ago. That first album was...okay I guess? Not very memorable. I think I listened to the whole thing once or twice. Couldn't name a single track from it that really stuck out to me now. But this...this is the style of his I fell in love with ~12 years ago.

It's not like I think artists can't change their styles. Some pull it off incredibly well. But I prefer this style (his original) to his different style on the first album. From what I remember, it was more atmospheric/cinematic sounding, and that's just not what I listened to Danger for at all.

How come it took so long for him to put this out? I don't know why he didn't put out an album back in like 2008 or so. The hype that was building around him was pretty big back then. I remember he put out a few EPs. But then he didn't come out with anything for years, then that first album wasn't what I wanted, so I had just kinda moved on from Danger and gave up the expectation that he'd release something I really wanted to hear.

But like you said, this is an extension of the poo poo he was putting out back in the MySpace days and it owns. I loving love tracks like 0:46, 16:56, 6:03, 88:88 Stage 3 the Club and 13:13. This is poo poo I absolutely would have blasted in my car a decade ago, and I'm sure I will now in 2019 too. I mean hell, even the cover art looks like something he would've used a decade ago. Maybe he even teased this back in the MySpace days? It looks familiar.

This scratches a similar itch for me as stuff like Perturbator and Carpenter Brut and Mega Drive, artists who kinda filled in the gap left by Danger not putting out the kind of stuff I wanted from him.

:h:

The first album grew on me quite a lot, it 'clicked' with me when I was walking home from town on a nice warm night quite late at night with my nice headphones on. This is a treat, very, very late but is very much going to be appreciated by his older fans because a lot of this was only available via lovely mix rips at like 192kbps or less, my old hard drive has a few of them.

The artwork is indeed similar to his old stuff, in old interviews he says he has a recurring dream about a dark pyramid in the jungle and the character he dresses up as... This is oooooold art he did himself:

Also I forgot I've seen him 3 times, twice in the UK at Bristol and Manchester and once in Paris at the opening of a new museum/arts place.

Can someone tell me why the hell this album exists? lol

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oifKRpaNpHs

quote:

The greatest songs of the label as never heard before, performed by the 70 piece symphony ensemble Orchestre Lamoureux, arranged and conducted by Thomas Roussel

It's orchestral versions of a bunch of Justice tracks and other Ed Banger stuff, seemingly for the label's 15th anniversary? It's just such a curiosity. Why go orchestral?

I'm digging it, I just don't understand how this happened.

I wouldn't say orchestral adaptations of EDM have become a thing, quite, but it's been happening. There was a big show at the Royal Albert Hall a few years ago, Pete Tong did another at the O2 last December, and Orbital have talked about doing one for their 30th birthday this year.

It exists because the French are mental. Also there's a bunch of other classic dance tracks been done like that and I guess they wanted to show off a bit? The Vladimir Cauchemar Aulos track is hilarious anyway so hearing it as a full orchestral piece even if short is amazing.

I made an EDM playlist of 12 songs that tells the epic of infiltrating a mad scientists lair in order to stop the end of the world, then the doomsday machine goes off. With a couple of closing aftermath songs.
Would love to hear some interpretations. Send me a pm of some songs that could be included or excluded. I enjoyed making it and thought I should share.

1) "2808" by Nero [Intro]
2) "Serious Danger" by A_Rival [infiltration]
3) "Destroy Them With Lasers" by Knife Party [infiltration]
4) "Operation Doomsday (feat. Sara)" by S3rl [infiltration]
5) "Doomsday Machine" by Far Too Loud [infiltration]
6) "Doomsday" by Nero [Extinction]
7) "The Apocalypse" by NIVIRO [Aftermath]

I hope this is the right thread / someone can help me / point me to somewhere else that might be better. I am concerned my brother is either being catfished / losing touch with reality / making elaborate lies to me for some reason? We don't live near each other so most conversations I have with him happen over the internet. He's into making his own music, but he's recently claimed he just got signed to a super-secret new record label that's going to totally be the next new thing and is somehow tied to Deadmau5, Daft Punk, Aphex Twin, NIN...but they are all using other names!

I'm really concerned he's having a mental issue. I don't want to give out too much personal information because I don't want doxxing to happen. This record label he got signed to is called Delcraft Digital. I haven't had a lot of time to do a deep internet search but nothing is coming up from this.

I Found a Delcraft Digital on beatport and its all super generic music you'd hear in the background of a youtube video. For one thing, Deadmau5 owns his own label Mau5trap and wouldn't need to be on a different name. He's getting scammed. https://www.beatport.com/label/delcraft-digital/65353

Yeah, AFAIK deadmau5 is on mau5trap (his own label), Daft Punk is on Columbia, Aphex Twin is on Warp and NIN is on Capitol/The Null Corporation (their own label). I've never heard of Delcraft Digital. Sounds bogus.

I mean he may have gotten signed to a label, but they're absolutely not who they say they are.

I never for once believed all of those bands were on some super secret record label that seems to be run by some guy in England. :) I was seeing if anyone had heard of Delcraft Digital. It doesn't seem to be anything nefarious, just some dude doing his thing. Maybe he is going to release some of my brother's music?

I emailed my dad and told him to keep an eye on things, but its probably not worth a confrontation. I told him to watch out to see if he has to pay any fees to anyone regarding his "deal".

Some other things he's told me:
"I might be involved with the sound track of the next season of game of thrones"
"Me, DaftPunk, and Deadmau5 are planning a big Woodstock like festival but for idm in *small suburb of nowhere city*"

I work in a creative field and have done freelance and I have friends who DO commercial freelance music so I know whats wrong with those statements. He tells my dad that he is friends with Deadmau5 and they chat on the internet and text and he's mentoring him with his music. I am trying to tell him that I just don't think this is true and to keep an eye on this situation.

Honestly it sounds like your brother could have narcissistic personality disorder and should maybe seek some sort of treatment for that, but hey, I am in no way a professional :shobon: I've just been going to psychiatrists/counselors long enough to have a basic knowledge of different types of mental disorders, and that's how it sounds.

Not trying to turn this into E/N but mental health is an issues run in the family. My mom believes the conspiracy theories. All of them. I live a 12 hour drive away from them for a reason! I semi-seriously joke that if my dad dies first, we are going to ghost the rest of my family. I figured it wouldn't hurt to get a second opinion on that studio though. At least someone isn't taking advantage of him?
