Trig Discipline posted:Vital to sustaining agriculture, not ecosystems; honey bees aren't native to North America. North America does have over four thousand native bee species, though, and it's been suggested that honey bees are actually a big frickin' problem for them in some cases. I don't know, somehow with the looming threat of INSECT DEATH the species hardly matters. We'll be down to ferns, wind-pollinators and a bunch of jobs where you get a small brush and a ladder to DIY bee.

But I have to be careful of anything that contains nondescript "flavours," because very rarely, one of those flavours will be actual strawberry. And you look like a real dick when you have to explain to the ER doctor that you went into anaphylactic shock because you ate something with your allergy in its name.

Just as a FWIW: I am a professional ecologist/conservation biologist, but I don't study insects specifically. Every entomologist I know thinks that recent paper about the world running out of insects in twenty years or whatever the gently caress they claimed is absolute nonsense. poo poo is bad and getting worse, but the bugpocalypse is probably not yet upon us.
