Maybe the military attempts to backstab Godzilla at the end of the movie because they decide we don't want to be his pets and he causes too much damage bumbling around, and an angry Godzilla has declared jihad on mankind setting up Godzilla vs Kong. I dunno - does anyone really give a gently caress about Kong? This movie has the main antagonist as far as I'm concerned.
