it's not that it's frustrating watching every other decent team in the NL get so much better, it's that a team full of guys that are pretty much in their 20s just all cratered and no know longer how to play baseball. it's not like those yankees teams where a bunch of guys were like 35 years old, these are like 26 year old dudes who just decided they can't play baseball anymore

so. the nats. in some ways it was more fun to watch them back when they were losing 100+ games a year. it's amazing how fun it can be to support a team when there's no hope of them winning - no stress! also i watched about 100x more baseball then than i do now. not an exaggeration (that's because i have a job and poo poo now, not because the team's better... i hope) but the nats. they are okay i guess. today was nice, the ceolacanth of the team and the next guy for a division rival to sign to a 9-figure salary both got HRs i should get a UVA zimmerman jersey again, i used to have that and a Syracuse Nationals hat that said Nats in a cool font, but the jersey is gone and the hat is shrunken. how evocative. edit: actually it'd be a UVA doolittle jersey. i'm glad zim kept his mouth shut aside from platitudes when the nazis and the kkk did their thing in c-ville, because i suspect he's kind of a dumb-rear end, but doolittle did a nice tweet thread with well thought out and strong opinions i agreed with, and because it's 2019 that actually means something. imagine telling someone in 2009 that you made your jersey buying decision based on political tweets oystertoadfish fucked around with this message at 02:00 on Apr 4, 2019 |
