Griffin is a great guest and everyone should try Blank Check, it does not cover the same ground as WHM and is also less of a comedy podcast.

Based on the description of how the podcast started (analyzing The Phantom Menace as if there were no other movies ever) was so fascinating I stopped listening to this episode and started with the first episode of Blank Check. I know it turns into something else later, but I'm enjoying how it started for now.

Live Free or Die Hard is one of those movies I can't defend as good or worthwhile at all, but I still love it with all my heart. Armageddon and Miami Connection are on that list too.

And then Steve got pissed off, and it was the Joker of running gags.

Yep. Really enjoyed this episode and the guys had great chemistry with Griffin. A lot of fun and great episode. I’ve had Blank Check in my podcast app but never got around to listening to it, I’ll definitely have to start based on how much I like Griffin in this episode. I think the guys were really on point and had a lot of great comedy on this episode.

Can someone who does listen to Blank Check name one or two standout episodes for those of us who might want to check it out (besides the aforementioned Book of Henry)?

Do they do a Blank Check episode on Blank Check? Or, when are we going to get Griffin back to do a Blank Check episode of WHM?

Yes, it’s episode 100

The Matrix movies are really good. Any Verhovan ep is really good. Probably Total Recall first as Andrew and Steve are on it, but that whole mini-series had some really good episodes

There is a decent amount of overlap of movies they have both covered. Maybe start with one of those ones

The Book of Henry episode is probably the closest they come to a WHM style episode, followed by the Justice League episode and the remaining snippets of the lost BvS episode.

Most of the time they're much more of a We Love Movies podcast than a WHM show. The Matrix episodes were good, as was Total Recall and Robocop. I personally liked The Parent Trap episode and the whole Nancy Meyers miniseries; it's interesting to listen to people be enthusiastic about movies that aren't personally in my wheelhouse, because it helps me see things from a different perspective. It was fascinating to listen to their episode on What Women Want the day after the WHM version came out, because they and their female guest borderline loved that movie.

In addition to the above I recommend Space Jam. Any episode with a Griffin sibling is pretty good because they tend to want to do movies they all watched and either loved or hated while growing up.

The recent one on Mars Attacks! Is also a good starting point I think. Or just go to the beginning where the conceit was that the Phantom Menace was the only (Star Wars?) movie ever made.

The Speed Racer and Titanic episodes are excellent, everyone is so enthusiastic about those movies and it really shines through in how they talk about them. David also goes to bat hard for the Matrix sequels, it's fun to compare those to the WHM episode on Revolutions.

Listening to this episode was so bizarre, because Jupin is right, this movie is insanely forgettable. I know for a fact that I saw Shrek 2. But listening to them describe the events, I remembered none of it. Like, not even in a, "Oh yeah, I remember that now that they said it" kind of way. In a, "Wait, that happens in this movie?" kind of way. It's a complete blank slate.

My dad actually really liked the first Shrek watching it with me and my sister at home, which was weird because he generally doesn't give a poo poo about movies in general. We actually all went to see Shrek 2 in the theater. He commented after that he didn't like that it had so much magic, and wondered if they were playing up the magic aspects because Harry Potter was so popular.

Oh, well, that's all water under the bridge, as I always say. Water under the bridge!

Senior year of high school I had a girlfriend who insisted Shrek was a bonafide Classic. I thought it looked like dogshit, but agreed (begrudgingly) to watch it. 90 minutes of me just sitting stone-faced on a futon. We broke up shortly after.
