If you like horror then I HIGHLY recommend Savageland on Prime. It's found footage BUT it's done in the much easier to digest documentary style rather than shaky cam.

It also has one of the coolest and most unique methods of presenting it's scares I've seen in a long while and takes a normally style idea and makes it legitimately one of the most chilling and creepy films I've seen in years.

Go into it totally blind because the slow discovery of what it's about is one of it's biggest delights.

I’ve watched quite a bit of what I’ve read/heard are the top HBO shows. What am I missing that I shouldn’t (likely have only a couple months of HBO streaming use)?

I just finished catching up with Veep. Have seen The Wire, Game of Thrones, Deadwood, Band of Brothers, Room 104, Season 1 of True Detective, and most of The Newsroom (don’t judge, I’m a journalist so I have a soft spot for anything about journalism regardless of how good or bad it actually is).

Thanks!

Watch Barry.

Two of my favorites are Carnivale, a very weird, lightly gnostic show about the conflict of good and evil in the Depression-era Dust Bowl. it got canceled after two seasons but they manage to wrap it up as well as can be expected, definitely worth a watch.

and their miniseries adaptation of the multi part play Angels in America, which has an absolutely incredible cast to go with the writing.

Both are fairly short commitments compared to a lot of the HBO stuff and really deserve some love.

Carnivale is as good as anything HBO has ever put out. That and Deadwood are easily my favorite HBO shows even though I think The Wire is a more important show.

Appreciate everyone’s recommendations a ton! Think I’m going to start off with Carnivale and work my way through these from there.

There’s a sequence in episode 2 or 3 of a bunch of walruses falling off cliffs to their deaths that’s a bummer.

Rudy who was in the series is also Rudy in real life and was part of the crew who helped make it as close as possible. He literally was playing himself. Maybe Doc and Rudy could get into it.

HBO has The Nun streaming. It was kind of a let down compared to the other movies in this series (Annabelle Creation, The Conjuring, etc). It was borderline awful, but probably worth watching if you like these flicks. It had some cool creepyass moments, but it felt more commercialized? I don't even know what to call it.

HBO is also streaming Annabelle Creation and was a thumbs up. It has a nice slow buildup and then goes from spooky to full on FUUUUUUU till the end.

Netflix has Trailer Park Boys. I don't know why I have never watched this, but it's fantastic. I've heard nothing but great things since it was released, but never had the time to watch it. So god drat funny.
