Runed doors can only be opened by the player. Is baiting out the guardians of the orb hall a very common strategy? If it is, then that might affect the difficulty curve of the endgame.

It's just so you can clear out the not-lungs part without an ancient lich rolling up to ruin your day. there's still teleport traps all over inside of the lungs, though, and if you're making noise clearing the outside bit you'll probably wake stuff up that'll wander into the teleport traps and show up to say hi. that said, getting ambushed before going in to clear the lungs isn't something i've ever had a problem with so maybe i just don't have the right mindset to understand why you'd want a runed door there v  ve: i did have this z5 layout recently that i seriously appreciated though

So I'm in Mnoleg's lair and I start getting corrupted by Entropic Weave. Nothing on the screen, I move away, run halfway across the dungeon and it keeps firing on me. Eventually I'm at -32 AC and I have to quaff cancellation. I have see invis, what the hell was doing this? I didn't see the malign gateways opening either....pre:You kill the cacodemon! It's not, at least in the main branch of crawl. The only monster with that spell is the Entropy Weaver which isn't invisible and it's a single-cast spell, no duration on it.

I really don't think Necromute was needed, I think the key to extended is having spellforged servitor who's only casting Iron Shot / LCS and having a giant evoke for channeling. You could probably shave quite a bit off this time by focusing elemental training but this is about as fast as I'm comfortable going with a caster, I wound up exploring almost all the main dungeon and branches.

Speaking of bugs I found an odd wrinkle (that's probably not a bug). I still have the build that crashes on Lear's Hauberk +33 {cloud immunity} (not your fault FK, I only play offline tiles) and it doesn't trigger a crash if you get Lear's Hauberk from your Archaeology box. Which makes sense I guess, since that check is firing on itemgen and the box only chooses from unrand arts. Of course I was a DSArc and got to wear it for about 10 turns before my feet mutated away but still...

Advice on current steps to take? I could just take my runes into Zot, but I'm feeling kinda greedy. I've basically just been one shotting everything with my spriggan's knife through a combination of stealth, wands of paralyze, various spell shenanigans, demon guardians drawing attention, Zonguldrok zombies drawing attention, and straight up just leaving to reset aggro. In the same way that Wu Jian is hilarious with Devastator, it is extra hilarious when I can instakill three guys who don't notice me by lunging at the middle one, automatically attacking the ones on the way. The secret with that battlesphere is it will shoot at your target (even if you hit something else it will aim for your target) and it will move up to 1 square to position where it can see the target. Stupid question, are there RC_file setting for butchering during auto-explore at Hungry instead of Very Hungry? And/or always chopping all whenever I butcher corpses at a pile? Both of these things make the otherwise clean auto-explore process take forever and break the flow.

I use full if I have gourmand and want to stop at very full so I can eat mutagenic chunks.

I'm playing a Dr now that would be perfect for Blade of Disaster and I guess the issue is how do I get that spell as a hybrid? Would be easy as Sif, and I've been offered it a couple times with Vehumet, but here I'm stuck getting it from Tempests or a randart book. Most charms (shroud, swiftness, rmsl, regen, dmsl) and practically every hex are available in 2 fairly common books and most are in starters. This means it's a rare combo to find a character who has this spell available during the time it would be useful. I can say the one time I did try it I was Chei and it would place prisms that I had absolutely no hope of avoiding, especially if I had to attack an enemy to my right or left. Barring Chei, statue form is common enough on hybrids that it's a real issue. Even as a spriggan if I frequently have to move to avoid the explosion I'm quite frankly never going to use it. There are too many instances where 1-2 full turns are not worth it, especially in that it WILL force you to abandon a superior defensive position which IMO makes it a non-starter. Also makes multiple prisms rare because as soon as you summon one you have to back off and stop attacking. I would say place the prisms on the other side of the target and it's a winner. While we are on Charms, why is Haste level 9 in Gooncrawl where stacking wands of haste are a thing? It's not even a permabuff and there's a strong mechanic (glow) to prevent abuse. I can't imagine finding room in the xp budget to buy an L9 charm when the only stop on the charm train from 3 to 9 is Deflect Missile at level 6. By the time you can even think about casting this you have a wand of haste and you've found a billion recharge scrolls. Has anyone used this spell?
