Ugh I'm at a UNC system university and we had shots fired the other night (it was honestly probably nothing there was not even a suspect description) but gently caress if I'm not a little edgy going into finals week for reasons other than being unprepared.

Can someone touch a bit on what civil penalties or other recourse actions the house can levy against Barr / other non-willing participants? As I understand it without DOJ support Contempt of Congress won’t get criminal penalties - so no jail time - but I’m not sure what else congress can do? Levy punative fines upon Barr himself? DOJ?

Congress has the power to enforce their own laws, so it would need a House-only resolution to do that. Old-timey option: Dispatch the Sergeant-at-Arms or the Metro PD to arrest said fucker and haul him in front of the House to answer for his/her fuckery. Kind of a problem when the fucker has a security detail (see: Barr) Long-term option: Don't fund the fucker's salaries/departments in the future.
