Should I just throw it in the bin? Is there a horticulture area on the forums I have yet to find? These questions and more ITT.

I feel like a bad parent that allowed their child to die of cot death or some easily avoidable poo poo.

Edit: Thanks AstroWhale

Try watering, op.

If you've done that, try not watering until the soil is dry an inch down.

If you've done that, try keeping it in a moist atmosphere. Maybe spray some water on it or something.

If you've done that, try changing pots.

If you've done that, the plant's dyin' Cloud.

Orchids only want a tiny bit of water. I suspect over watering.

I like your kitchen tiles.

Apart from the spray I have done all of those things, I guess it's RIP Mr Orchid :'( I'll see if the plant-based forum can help otherwise it's going in bin, reluctantly.

When your mum/dad/son/daughter/uncle/brother/sister basically any of your family die I am going to scratch this into their gravestone but with 'how to grieve?', you facetious bastard.

Some dumbass told me that they are 'water-based' flowers and I listened to them before I knew any better. I think this is the route of my problems, I over watered it and I listen to idiots.

Thanks, they aren't technically mine.

Real answer: your plant looks entirely savable and just need repotting. It's a Phalaenopsis orchid.Get som orchid mulch/orchid potting mix. Should be available from any store that sells any kind of gardening stuff. Cut off the old flower stalks and jam the areal roots into the mulch.

Phalaenopsis orchids can take a beating and come back from pretty much anything. Good luck.

I did re pot it recently although the 'mulch' had been sitting in a very cold house for a year+ Where should I cut it and what are areal roots?

Water is only once a week, and give it a spray as often as you care. If it grows roots above the mulch, that's aerial roots, and that's a good thing.

Is spray important? I don't own a spray bottle that isn't already taken up with toxic cleaners
