I didn't check every service so this might be rental only, but holy poo poo is First Reformed amazing. Just jumped way up the list of best films I've seen in the past few years.

Generalizations like that always sound pat. I've heard "times were bad, so people only wanted escapist art that made them feel better" and "times were bad, so people only wanted dark art that reflected the times they were living in" as well as "times were good, so people didn't see the need for uplifting art" and "times were good, so people looked for cynical art that reflected a different time" about pretty much any recent era or decade you'd care to name, because in any given time, there are examples of both succeeding or failing

The script is so drat bad in Wine Country. It had potential but the stakes are low, the jokes are lazy, and it overall feels cheap considering the cost of those actors. It’s like four people wrote the first draft and no edits were made.

I think the thing that annoyed me the most was they kept bringing up the MDMA that one of them had and I was expecting a funny scene of them high but nope it's just ignored and never actually utilised.

I'm glad it wasn't just us being dicks. That cast has earned A LOT of good will, but it was appallingly bad -- the middle-aged lady equivalent of those worthless Adam Sandler movies that are an excuse for him to drag his old pals on a paid vacation somewhere.

At some points, we wondered if there was even a script, or if they were just improvising and going with the first take of everything.

Wife and I in our 40's? Check. Did we grow up in the 80's? Check. Fans of Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, Jason Schwartzman, and others in this movie? Check. Fan of wine? Hell yes. So I thought it would be the perfect movie for Mother's Day. Well it is by far the worst movie we have watched in 2019 (I can't think of anything worse I watched in 2018 either). I had the same thought about the script. It seemed like all the dialogue was improvised. I will not speak of the stupid 'dancing' bit they kept doing which was never funny in the first place. I truly hate this movie.

Only positive I will say about it is Paula Pell has some really great skin for a 56 year old.

Shane Blacks The Predator is on HBOgo and I was not prepared at all for how bad it is. I don’t know what he was going for with this but it’s easily one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen.

Season 3 of Sneaky Pete is a disappointing slog. It's nice to see Peter Gerraty and Margo Martindale getting work but they're the only ones in the whole endeavor who actually seem like they give a gently caress. Also it appears that Ricky Jay might have died during filming because his plotline just drops and is concluded with a voiceover, which isn't a knock against the show; it's just depressing.

I felt like season two was the same. It was very boring until the last two episodes where they were actually doing the heist.

I really don't like how season 3 brings everyone into the con game. The show was much better when it was a family story at heart. I am a sucker for the heist aspect but I think season 1 is still above and beyond the best.
