If we're throwing caution completely to the wind, my dream irresponsible product probably made in China would be a usb powered hotplate I can use to keep my cup of coffee warm at my desk. I would pay moneys for this and burn my house down so that I didn't have to get up to use the microwave all the time.

Just keep in mind that if it's within USB 2 spec it'll only provide 2.5 watts of energy to your mug at best, maybe keeping it tepid if you're lucky.
Most likely it'll try to draw 1 amp or maybe even 1.5, which would still only be up to 5 or 7.5 watts. You might get it to pleasant drinking temperatures if you're lucky.
Really, the biggest risk with USB hotplates is burning out the USB power lines in your motherboard.

No, but electric guitars are a thing where build (and material) quality matters quite a lot in a lot of places, so I honestly wouldn't.

If you really want to experiment, maybe buy a decent used guitar and try replacing out one of the pickups from Aliexpress or something.

Welp the strap on my bag fell apart today. Time for a new bag. Also it turned out to be reconstituted leather.

Synthbuttrange posted:

Got a new bag

Seems pretty decent quality and actual leather, not pvc. Needed a new bag as my old one was falling apart. The strap is also reinforced with a canvas underside. Would be perfect if it was 10-20% larger but it's still a really cute daily use bag.

I also picked up a small party purse but it turned out like huge.

Let this be a lesson to you. "Real" leather isnt reinforced with canvas, they use more leather.

I used the "local sports/camping stuff store" version of cheap Chinese paracord to tow an ATV out of the snow with another ATV. Have no idea how many strands it had inside, but it felt the exact same as AliExpress paracord, and it was just about as thick as a normal USB cable, maybe slightly more?

It's good enough for most uses, really, except probably parachuting :v:

I’m guessing the reason is that she went to IKEA, but they didn’t have the thing she was looking for, and she didn’t want to leave empty handed after going all that way so ended up buying one of those huge bags of tea lights. At least, that’s how I ended up with a drawer full of the useless things.

Here’s something I haven’t seen on Aliexpress before: stupidly expensive costumes.

There is a lot of these so I just picked ones that have an order because I can’t comprehend spending that amount of money blindly on Aliexpress (even if it is in poor AU dollars), especially given how much the quality can vary on $10-20 items.
