Feels like every other day this thread declares someone a chud or chud aligned. Now it's Mandalore. Last time it was people mixing up one dumbass toy reviewer for a different more chuddy toy reviewer. Really, sometimes it feels like people want to find fault with the channels they watch so they can proclaim how they're cutting them out of their viewing order. See also: every single time RLM gets posted in the thread and yet another person declares how this time they went too far and they're done with the channel. Yeah on looking into Mandalore's twitter and stuff, he's at worst chud adjacent with a lot of chud fans (like pretty much any gaming related channel.) That's why I make the distinction between it being it in content or not. Modern youtube/social media is so loving toxic that purity tests are hardly passed by anybody. Bad takes are deffo bad takes but as long as the worst takes are a slipup and you also make good takes to counteract that I wont outright write people off. I'm just cautious.

I'd argue that instead of a yes/no on what content we view there should be degrees of engagement. I remember Lindsay's video years ago about Ender's Game and Chick Fil A and how both were created by reprehensible people but we're still engaging/tasty. While her main argument was that you should be aware of what goes into the things you like, she was not arguing that if you like these things or associate with them that you somehow endorse the creator's awful beliefs. If that was the case millions of people are nazi Chuds because they're subscribed to PewDiePie, when most of them are just stupid children. By all means be cautious, but the willingness to pillory someone on the most tangential relationship to questionable content seems absurd to me. People aren't black and white. You're never going to find a perfect person, life doesn't work like that. You make concessions, voice your concerns, and take your victories where you can get them. There's enough actual Nazis in the world who need to be dumped in a shallow grave without us condemning random internet reviewers because someone took a quote out of context or they've spoekn with someone you hate.

Recently some dickhead was essentially saying that myself, Octav1us and DJ Slope should not attend a panel (and basically not attend the event) because we were on there with Top Hat Gaming Man, a guy whose whole YT personality is pretty much a caricature of upper-class right-wing political views, and if we didn't immediately announce our departure we were clearly as bad as him and essentially Nazis. Kicker was that this pompous hypocrite ended up being at the event himself in the end for his own Retrogaming-related company -- obviously it wasn't a problem for him to be there promoting his brand, that's totally different! Meanwhile we're publicly derided by this dick as arseholes by association for being on a panel and going to an event that's, y'know, one of the chances we get to interact with lots of people in the flesh and also to see lots of our mates. Anyway that's how incredibly easy it is to get painted as "chud adjacent" or whatever so it's not exactly something I pay much attention to.
