Well, depending on how much investment it takes to actually raise weapon skill (which is probably a lot since there's a whole school mechanic around it), focusing everyone on axes in addition to whatever else might just get them stuck in sucky classes for way longer.

Quick Translations: There are now support attacks, kinda like Fates except you don't need to be adjacent. Nearby allies will attack your target if they're in range. This is tied into the support system and they get better with levels. There are also Support Gambits. There's a new version of Pair-up called "Adjutant" or "Aide" or whatever. You can assign 1 character to be someone else's adjutant, but you can only have so many total in your army, based on Byleth's Guidance level. The adjutant does basically the same stuff you'd expect from Awakening (follow-up attacks, blocking, etc), but it sounds like they can't swap to the front and it doesn't specifically say they give base stat buffs. Basically a limited version of that system. Doors/Treasure Boxes/Etc are now called "Field Gimmicks" which isn't new but I guess the system has a name now. Basically anything on the map that you can interact with is called a Gimmick. There's a picture of a drawbridge as an example. After you pass the exam to unlock a class, it is unlocked forever. You can freely switch to it without spending any item or anything. Some more Class Skills (which cannot be taken to other classes, as opposed to Custom Skills) Lord: Charisma: Adjacent Allies deal +3 damage Thief: Lockpick + Steal (steal non-weapons from enemies who have less speed than you) Pegasus Knight: Canto + Eva+10 Archer: Bow Range +1 Priest: Some spell called "Live" and +10 to all healing magic There's a button on the school menu to skip forward to the next battle, all students will have their skill-ups and whatever assigned automatically. You can just skip this entire section of the game, it sounds like. There are free battles between set battles, but it takes up "deployment power" to go on them. Sounds finite. Some more personal skills revealed: Ferdinand: Confidence: +15 accuracy/evasion when at full HP Bernadette: Paranoia: +5 damage when not at full HP Mercedes: Altruism: She heals herself whenever she heals someone else Ashe: Street Smarts (lit: Knowledge for Survival): Always has the effects of the Lockpick skill Raphael: Forager: Luck% Chance to heal 10% of max HP at the start of the turn Lysithea: Genius: Earns 2x EXP from battle Clarste fucked around with this message at 05:42 on May 29, 2019 |

For what it's worth, Bernadette was an Archer in the original trailer. I guess with +1 range it could be fairly safe to leave her at reduced HP.

Also I didn't mention this, but it works the same way as Fire did from the previous Famitsu: you can also equip it as a Custom Skill, but if you have both it'll have double the usages.

The way the Guidance thing is phrased makes it sound like Aides are deployed separately from your main army? So if a map has 12 slots, you'd deploy twelve characters plus whatever your Aide limit is. So it seems more like a way for benched characters to be somewhat useful?
