I went into DC last night with a friend who has a dog. We left both of our dogs in my apartment. I have a nanny cam and we checked in on them. Monty was furiously barking at something in the corner of the room. Whatever he was barking at was just off camera. We also couldn’t see my friend’s dog anywhere. Monty was going NUTS for over an hour. He was barking from a distance as if something was scaring him. So we rushed back as fast as we could. But with no metro and DC traffic that wasn’t as quick as we would like. So we are both getting pretty stressed about the situation. We get back to the apartment and walk in and holy. poo poo. Nothing. There was nothing there. My only conclusion is Monty was barking at ghosts and saved the world from ghosts.  Pic of friend’s derpy dog.

I’m in Addis Ababa right now, and have seen a few street dogs roaming around. They seem to be somewhat tolerated or even cared for; they don’t look super malnourished, cars slow down for them when they cross the street, and they seem habituated to people.  This girl looks like she’s given birth to a few litters, but otherwise looks like she’s doing well. I told her she was a good girl and she followed me for a bit. Wish I had some food I could have given her.

Went to have a few beers at my favorite local, and there was a greyhound in the backyard living his best life: His name is Tom. The bar has a popcorn machine for free popcorn and Tom helpfully went around after people left making sure any stray popcorn bits were cleaned up.
