I want to watch a good action movie that has zero cg blood and no computerized color correction. The more squibs the better. Please assume I have seen all the obvious top grossing ones. Bonus if it's on Netflix but it's not a necessity. Ideally not a racist power fantasy either.

Killer cast and great action. It’s no Robocop but plenty of blood. There’s a little bit of misogyny and homophobia but not too bad compared to the Hong Kong standards of the time. I asked this in the previous thread and got great results, so I figure I'd give it another go around: what are some films soaked in the joy and heartache and passion and self-destruction of youth? Last time I got Badlands, Streets of Fire, and Punishment Room out of it all of which felt perfect.

Nice Guys, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Free Fire, Pain & Gain Crank 1 and 2 might fit the vibe you're going for, same with Hot Fuzz, In Bruges, The Guard, and Baby Driver. Folks around here like Smokin' Aces and Seven Psychopaths even though I didn't really care for them.

I could have said Lovely Bones from memory at least, and Mystic River (needs a sequel), Sleepers. Inherent Vice. Frailty. Winter's Bone. I'd say most of those are lesser known because I've asked for the staples before and from your list only seen Identity, One Hour Photo, Frailty, and Inherent Vice. The first three meet what im looking for but I didn't like Inherent Vice, though I can see why you'd reccomend it since it is neo noir style, just not dark enough for me and I didn't get the comedy style. I would've provided a bigger list of what I've seen to better define lesser known but I'm extremely low on sleep and can't think at the moment. It sounds like you've already provided a great list of unwatched suggestions from the minimal info I gave, I'll check them out!

It doesn't really hit the self-destruction part, but Linda Linda Linda has just about everything else I want out of a movie about youth. Really nails that high school feeling and is just a very nice and pleasant movie to watch. Also a great movie about being young and in a band. I don't know if any of these are super obscure but the Pusher trilogy, A Prophet, Blue Ruin, Elle, Good Time, Killing Them Softly, Animal Kingdom, Martha May Marcy Marlene, maybe Dead Man's Shoes? Seconding Cure. I guess you've already seen Burning but it's good enough that I'm mentioning it in case.

Also forgt to mention to the other fellow I've seen Mystic River and that was a good one too with the sort of tone I'm looking for, but a bit of a strange ending. The Driver and To Live and Die in L.A. I'd throw John Boorman's Point Blank in there too if you haven't watched it. And it's a lot goofier than Mann's output, but maybe Body Double too.

To Live and Die in LA and Point Blank are solid recommendations. I'd also add Straight Time, Blood Simple, Get Carter, as well as Drive if it's not utterly obvious. Maybe Nightcrawler? There are a few other directions you could go beyond that really. I think a lot of Mann's focus on the criminal as amoral hyperskilled professional came from the wave of French post-noir crime films, which didn't lack for mood or style. If subtitles aren't an obstacle you might check out Jean-Pierre Melville's work, e.g. Le Doulos, Le Samourai, Le Cercle Rouge.

I just finished watching My Big Fat Greek Wedding. It was an alright rom-com, but I really enjoyed the focus on the main character’s family and their culture. I’m looking for similar light-hearted movies where the character’s family and cultural background play a big role, things like Moonstruck, Eat Drink Man Woman, and probably a lot more I can’t think of right now. I know there are films like The Joy Luck Club that sort of fit what I’m looking for, but I’ve been in the mood for less drama and more comedy lately. I prefer non-romantic comedy, but it's fine if it is. I'm also fine with non-English movies.
