I'm with PoisonTaco. The longer the flight times the more negativity it will have on release. This is good for Star Citizen.

Actually 9gxa05s8fa8sh makes a good point. Backers are dreaming now about things to do in QT but has 9gxa05s8fa8sh says, go look at the roadmap and wonder when they are going to add stuff like that.

Backers often say, "look, look, roadmap", while the roadmap clearly shows how much work still needs to be done and how much stuff is still missing from it before they have a releasable game. Not to mention of course how the roadmap constantly has items that slip.

An examination of the well thought out ship balance

The Ship On The Left:
* Costs 250 dollars
* 1 S4 gun
* 6 S2 guns

The Ship On The Right
* Costs 195 dollars
* 2 S4 guns
* 4 S3 guns
* Tiny profile
* Faster at both in-flight speed and super-cruise speed

----

Why is the ship on the left 55 dollars more expensive when it's fatter, slower, and has worse guns?

Well, you see, Star Citizen isn't actually about Paying 2 Win. It's about Paying 2 imagine Win. The one on the left is bigger, and scarier looking, and so marketing knows that players will imagine it being more powerful. They gave it an internal compartment. In Star Citizen valuation, that makes it substantially better because you can sit in the back and pretend to be spaceship space man. You will see Citizens go to the mat for this argument- it's longer range! It's a patrol fighter, you can sleep in the back! Also it gets a bigger shield because of course it does. Nevermind that it will lose every match up with the one on the right, which just has better firepower and turret placement- the one on the left is getting a total rework and a big new ship sale, while the guy on the right is barely ever mentioned. It's entirely about the look.

This week on "As The World Churns":

* We're redoing all the space stations because oops we made a bunch of ships that are too big for the original designs
* But this time we're making them procedural so we can build a bunch automatically, just like every other space game
* Oh, you thought it was taking so long because we were handcrafting all the stations one by one? Nope sorry we just weren't actually working on them at all.
* Oh sorry we're only going to make the "Secondary Locations" procedural so don't you worry, your favorite space station will still be full of hand-placed garbage cans or whatever
* (All of the locations are secondary locations)

* Bartenders! We are seriously putting time and effort into the animations of single-action background NPC's in our game where the flight doesn't work
* Here's some more of that mocap you loving love. God it's so good, mocapping mixed drinks. None of this will ever be in the game!

* We reworked another fighter because we made it look cool in the concept art, and then it looked like a turd when it came out, and you got mad!
* The changes are barely noticeable but you better believe we will do six episodes of our youtube series, a magazine issue, and a ship sale over them- tacking on at least 3 months of overhead to our schedule.
* That keeps happening for some reason but definitely give us the benefit of the doubt this time, and also more of your money please!

Citizens do not seem too concerned though. Everything is normalized. The collective brain wash says SC Space Stations are the best, and therefore even if procedural stuff is now used instead of handcrafting those Stations are still the best. No biggie. The BDSSE footprint is so prevalent and has been bombarded so repeatedly into the backers psyche that even steaming poo poo will be received in awe.

Just checked the reddit thread on it. Not a single negative word about proc gen stations. Its all good. And it is good! Its good to CIG accepting reality. Its just not what CIG promised to backers year after year.

But goon it's all on the road map!!!

What the road map doesn't say is very telling....

Number of tasks to finish? Nope
What are all the planned features? Nope
What about just core feathers? Nope
Estimated time to finish? Nope

It's almost as if CI just poo poo out a list of things they want to gently caress around for the next couple of months, it's a completely arbitrary list so they can push half off into never land..

And even when it's marked off as done, that's just another fictional reference point... Because the next quarter will have a bunch of improvement tasks to hide the fact it was not done the first time.

And gently caress me even after its been fixed with various improvement tasks that turns out to be only tier O !

Thats just perfect this way we can do a victory lap about progress, not get upset that the new feature is bland, broken, poo poo and buggy, and look forward to the next quarters Jesus patch.

Yet poor citizens drool at very thouht of this new age of transparency, greatfull for the chance to scrape data back into spreadsheets, allowing them opertunity to get progresses propogda in a readable format.

I'm convinced it exists only so citizens can sit in beerless bars, point to the roadmap and bang on about all the progress that has been made.

In the grey-colored future of Star Citizen, the only way human labor has any value is if it provides entertainment -- otherwise, you'd just have a robot do it.

So if you want to earn enough spacebucks to afford the right kind of outfit to get an interview to get a job mopping the decks of some whale's space yacht, you're going to need to start by mopping some space station decks with flair. Really get your hips into it, make it a show, or they'll just give your job to a roomba, and your career as a Star Citizen NPC who is indistinguishable from an actual player (or vice versa) will be over before it starts. And since taking advantage of all the rich gameplay opportunities available to someone who stays in one place forever will mean getting a prestigious job mixing drinks in grungy spaceport bars, the revolutionary never-been-done-before AI will of course prioritize watching and re-watching "Cocktail" on their mobiglasses until they learn how a even a simple glass of space whiskey can be served in no fewer than seven minutes using nothing more than two bottles, three glasses, a hula hoop, and two assistants.

Don't forget the dry ice - there's always got to be dry ice.

Anyway, I may be getting overly exercised about this, I don't know - is theatrical bartending a big deal in the US? Or would most upstanding American citizens be as horrified as I would be if they were to walk into a bar and be greeted by a barman who started lobbing bottles about and making the whole thing an "experience"?

My entire experience with that kind of bartending is the early Tom Cruise movie Cocktail, so I'd probably back right out if I saw the bartender doing that. At the very least they probably would charge me more for the experience

Nope. There's 2 main kinds of bartenders in the US - dive bars, where you expect and desire guff, begrudging service, and more upscale/trendy bars, where you expect them to be polite, attentive, and unobstrusive. You generally only see the flair poo poo at gimmicky tourist chain restaurants. If someone started doing that at any bar I've been to it'd probably cause a lot of people waiting to order to be very annoyed.

The real reason commandos would have to be mopping floors in SC is that the space roombas ended up unionizing and they no longer accept work on any planet, station or space chariot where they can be destroyed by clipping through floors.

Of course all these concerns were raised and promptly dismissed.

Basically Death tower is time and/or money and/or revenue shares (who knows what deals and promises were conjured up for this) down the hole for something that was just not needed. It looks good in tweets and posts though so it can be used for fake hype and for the illusion of progress.
