joshi promotions were incredibly strong draws from the 70s to the 80s, with AJW one of the strongest wrestling promotions outright during a lot of this time period, drawing incredibly high television ratings and consistently strong houses for all of their shows. There were a bunch of splinter offs in the later 1980s that kind of diluted the audience, but that large audience was still mostly there, these promotions were even drawing 30k+ to the tokyo dome. if the promotion and industry is strong, it will draw strong. trying to say that njpw should have a women's division out of tokenism is incredibly dumb and its insulting to the joshi companies that are here today trying to build something. You have SENDAI girls, Stardom, TJPW, ICE RIBBON, DDT uses women mixed with their roster and they're a pretty extreme outlier for well, everything wrestling related. Women wrestlers can either work for a promotion where they can be used in different spots on the card including main events, have diverse programs and long year round reaching stories and their own factions like how Stardom operates, or they can wrestle the same four other women on a loop for two years straight on the undercard without much story driving things beyond "my turn now" like how Gedo books his tag divisions and how he usually books his jr heavyweight division.

I'll say this, WWE wishes they inspired the level of fanatical brand loyalty in their die-hard fans that TNA has inspired in theirs. That's some straight-up "facts don't matter" broke-brained devotion right there.

Dave Meltzer could probably show you some tweets that would be on par I'm sure (many of which are in this thread)

As a person who was mad at people almost every time they left ECW (I realized how ridiculous it was years later, thankfully) and is familiar with that type of fanatical fandom, I'd say you'll find that sort of irrational love exists for fuckin' everything. Much like Rule 34 dictates that if it exists there's pornography of it, there should be a similar rule that dictates if it exists, someone on the internet is WAY too into it.

Oh sure, to clarify I was thinking more along the lines of people (like the guy in that one post) refusing to admit that TNA is eternally circling the drain, to the point of basically being a "AEW on TNT Truther". At least WWE fans have a fed that is still financially viable (even if ratings and attendance are steadily dropping), and that has been the clear global leader for quite some time now. Whereas TNA fans are just clinging to a rotting corpse, claiming that all it needs is a couple of bandaids and a little Bactine and it'll be back to full health before you know it.
