A weird fact about Fox is that Mickey Rourke called her the most talented young actress he'd ever worked with. So I'm looking forward to Fox popping up in some prestige HBO show or something in a few years, knocking it out of the park, and everyone going 'holy poo poo, who knew she was this good?' Mickey Rourke knew.

Len posted:That's an old joke that I've seen on these forums a shitload of times I mean, I think that same joke is made literally every time someone mentions Max Landis. On that note, I dug out my copy of OUTRAGEOUS CONDUCT again and it's pretty easy to see why that book got mysteriously buried since release. Like, from the off that segment was a disaster waiting to happen. They lied to the parents of the kids, not just about the hours and the nature of the shoot (And the safety of it) but they also fired live loving shotgun rounds at the actors because Landis wanted to see holes in the Banana plants (Morrow has to jump out of the way when the guns start firing and they hit the Banana plants above him. In reality, a stuntman was off camera and had to pull Morrow out of the way at the right time so that he wouldn't loving die). Even before the accident, there's a long litany of things that should've got the people involved in jail. And the blame doesn't just start and end with Landis, there were a ton of people who could and should've called out what they knew was dangerous but they all just assumed it would be fine. Geroge Folsey Jr admitted that they'll get a slap on the wrist for hiring the kids without permits, but if they knew they were planning to use live explosives then they'd probably throw him in jail. And it's not like this poo poo was decided on a whim, plenty of it was from before production even started. At the time of the trial, both Coppola and Lucas signed a letter in support of Landis while Spielberg, James L Brooks and Brian De Palma all refused to do it. Brooks and De Palma outright said that Landis was criminally negligent for what he did. Oh, and Frank Marshall was on set but ran the gently caress out of there when the accident happened.

Ghost Leviathan posted:Didn't Tarantino about-face on Woody Allen? I think Woody Allen's a different case than John Landis. I mean Tarantino himself has a history of questionable conduct on set, like strangling an actor himself "because Christoph Waltz would've held back" and almost killing Uma Thurman in a driving stunt. John Landis almost killing (and actually killing) people for a movie seems like something Tarantino might've gotten behind at the time.

It's not really a discipline with defined procedures is the issue. A good one is going to be something like a sports medicine specialist, a bad one could be loving anything and is probably loving with your neck and/or spine. Basically just consider a good rule of thumb "find a masseuse instead".
