Yet where is that woman now? Tell me, in what heave does she reside? None of them. Because no God bothered to listen or care. If that is what you think it means to be a God, then you and all your teachings are welcome to do as that poor women did. And vanish from these realms forever.

Right now, no, but there's been some believable leaks that Cyber Sleuth: Hacker's Memory will get a Switch port soon and that's the best Digimon game.

Its so fuckin weird they delisted the original Cyber Sleuth from all digital distribution since the plot in Hacker's Memory makes almost no sense without it (Hackers Memory is a sidestory that takes place juuuuust offscreen from the original game and frequently has the protagonist cross over with supporting cast and very nearly see the events of the first game)

I love Hacker's Memory, but I'm still amused by the couple of times where they really drive that in. There's a bit after you take on a major boss where the narration goes "And even though this person is a major villain I somehow get the feel that I'll never see them again." There's also the bit where you get a bunch of e-mails from the Cyber Sleuth main cast going "We're gonna go off and complete the main plot and solve the central setting problem. Catch you on the flipside substory cast!"

By the same token you're absolutely right Hacker's Memory absolutely expects the player to know more about what's going on than the characters, IE the game doesn't bother hiding certain setting details because it assumes you already know to an extent what's going to happen. If you actually tried to play them in parallel Hacker's Memory would reveal a bunch of things way before they come up chronologically in Cyber Sleuth. IIRC Hacker's Memory has absolutely no problem dumping Arata's backstory, which is a big reveal near the halfway point during a big setpiece, but on the other hand it is the sort of information that all the people involved absolutely would have brought up so I can't really fault the game for doing it. By that same token when Hacker's Memory says "Digital Waves" it really expects you to immediately understand what it's talking about. I also approve of the fact that Hacker's Memory gives a continuation to some of the sidequest stuff, including the wonderfully goofy resolution to the occult club and the maid cosplayer.

It was a little off-putting at the time, but looking back at those games all the times they decided to mash up occult urban fantasy with Digimon actually somehow worked. It really feels like a weird SMT Devil Summoner game in terms of style and setting. Altogether, those two games comprise my favorite non-Appmon season of Digimon since Savers wrapped.

The Japanese version of Hacker's Memories includes the original, so I think someone forgot they were separate in the west.

Wasn't Palmon one of the starters for Cyber Sleuth as well? It is kind of weird to replace Floramon with something as similar as Palmon, but at least it isn't Lalamon or something.

I’m of the opinion that OG Lucemon has by far the worst design of any Digimon, so devil wings or no this is a huge improvement.

If Digimon games will continue to be blatantly influenced by SMT, I see no reason why we can't have a Digimon that seems to have come straight from that franchise.

New X forms premiering in the Digital Monster X ver. 2

DarkTyrannomon X, Numemon X, Impmon X, Ofanimon Falldown Mode X, and Cherubimon Vice X

There will also be Black Agumon X, Ogremon, Metalgreymon Virus X, Lady Devimon X, vamdemon X, and Mephismon X

a bunch of other digimon will be appearing in the V-pet for the first time, including Yaamon and Kiimon (Impmon's baby forms) and Filmon and Stefilmon, Erismon's evolved forms, and DarknessBagramon

speaking of Erismon's evolved forms, his Ultimate/Mega form(s) have been revealed:

Rasenmon Gekko Mode (meaning rage or fury), his corrupted form which he attains after absorbing the power of multiple spiral digimon (the main enemies of the game, corrupted crystalline looking digimon)

And his "true" Ultimate, found in the game's files but not fully revealed yet, presumably also named Rasenmon.

edit - also, it appears Erismon is actually "Herrismon", from the french word for hedgehog

Numemon X was what this series lacked. Now it can truly become the marketing juggernaut it was always meant to be with a mascot to match.

Impmon X is also really cool, he looks like he could have his own game or series.

Numemon X is brilliant, and Impmon X is a perfect expression of the X Antibody aesthetic. These redesigns for new and old Digimon, following after a style that is itself 16 years old, are a great way to lean into the nostalgia and history of the franchise beyond just pumping out Adventure merch. I hope they stick with it for a third wave.

and not the dumb omnimon variations like zwart, just vanilla-rear end omnimon

e: also starters tend to not matter in digimon games since your digimon will end up being like 50 different monsters

e2: also finished Hacker's Memory recently after learning it existed, I beat CS but lost my save somewhere but oh well HM was still fun. Still don't really like the "lol none of this actually happened" ending but at least that let them go real dark with things
