I chuckled, well done. Looks like The Beast at Kings Island in OH. I've never ridden it but have heard many tales (and of its late Son). e: uh, for something more on-topic, here's a reminder that two members of Hum dressed in animal suits for their 120 Minutes appearance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nB0dYLGPY2M

Zedd posted:Actual Holocaust survivers thinking that it might be tasteless is understandable, but Rammstein has always liked using shocking images and seeing current politics overall I mostly see it as "Do we seriously need to remind you of this". Yeah, I'd be a lot more critical if it wasn't so on the nose and such an important point to have made these days. A Jew in a concentration camp saying "Germany over all" really is just such a fantastic illustration to show the true face of blind nationalism and racism. I think it's an important point rather than a tasteless little gimmick for shock value. That being said, there are plenty of tasteless little gimmicks for shock value in the video, and I'm hoping this one doesn't end up being the best of the five videos because it hasn't set the bar that high. Basically like they have been since the dubstep collab album, which had plenty of cringe moments, but I honestly liked quite a bit. It was really different from anything else and it largely worked. But since then, they've just settled on really generic metal with generic production. At the very least, at this point they're a band that sinks or swims entirely based on their producer. I don't really care for Korn but I did just hear that Billy Corgan co-wrote the song... and yet it doesn't really seem to have any of his influence in it that I can hear. Hm.

I already crossposted over in SAmart, I got 2 lawn tix for Knotfest (Slipknot, Volbeat, Gojira, Bemeoth) at Tinley Park(hollywood amphitheater) in Chicago this Sunday August 11th. 2-for-1 since I'd rather see them used than wasted, $25 gets both (2) lawn seats. Tickets are digital so i can either transfer to a ticketmaster account or just email/text the bar codes. No PMs but either reply or email buspass at gmail if you want

Henchman of Santa posted:Tinley Park "in Chicago" lol yeah that is pretty a fuckin generous description. If it was any closer I'd go. Weather looks like it'll be hot as balls, big surprise for middle of August huh? I'm just not a huge fan of the bowl type arenas(Tinley, Alpine Valley, Marcus, etc) for shows like this. Not sure if it's the little bit of slope compared to a flat setup, or more likely its the seating in front of the general lawn area. Went to Slayer last summer there and while we were at the front rail of the lawn area, it didn't seem right to be there and then STILL have thousands of motherfuckers in front of you. I'm sure it'll be a good old time regardless

Against my better instincts, I'm actually starting to anticipate the new Korn album??? The new single "Can You Hear Me" is right up my alley, and the last one ("Cold") was pretty good too. My reaction is gradually doing a 180 from how I felt after the first single. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XC59-CHjkfU It depends on your tolerance for big-rear end choruses, but man, that is one big-rear end chorus. Not much else to it, but it doesn't overstay its welcome. It has that spacey Untouchables vibe that I'm a sucker for, but slightly less overblown. The other 2 songs don't really have that, but who knows. My interest is piqued again.

Yesterday I heard on the radio (yes, FM Radio, remember that?) a new(?) song by Chevelle with an insane bass intro. It spawned the idea in my mind that I would like a Chevelle album for my library. Any recommendations? From some brief reading, their first LP was an Albini Album, and, much like the same from my favorite post-grunge act Failure, Chevelle seems to have been not satisfied with the overall sound of it. They were originally signed to a Christian label?

They were originally signed to a Christian label? You'd probably be happy with their second release Wonder What's Next. Pretty sure that one had some singles that the alt-rock trash fire of a radio station in my city still plays to this day. They were signed to Squint Records for their first record, which aside from releasing the album that put Sixpence None the Richer in the spotlight for "Kiss Me" is run by Steve Taylor who has a pretty long list of credentials in the Christian Music Scene.

Wonder What's Next is good, but I feel like the record's overall flow kinda falters after the first half (funnily enough, basically after the three singles they released, which all come one after another) and the eponymous song kinda hurts that flow, despite being an otherwise good-to-great song. Sci-Fi Crimes in my opinion, doesn't have that problem because, even as the record's longest song, "Fell Into Your Shoes" has a pretty kickass vibe and "Letter from a Thief" is like distilled Chevelle from Point #1 up until SFC, before they changed their tuning to Drop C (most songs on the records from WWN to SFC are either C# or Drop B, with the occasional Drop C#), which they pretty much stuck to.

Any band's sound that catches my ear are certainly no "butt-rock" band. Thanks for the suggestions, I'll probably just listen to all of them in their entirety before making my decision. I approve of the degree of drop-tuning as a favorable metric. One of my favorite acts in the past decade basically took The Rentals formula and drop-tuned it way down there: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XfmbZpyDDoI
