The human animal is a beautiful and terrible creature, capable of limitless compassion and unfathomable cruelty.
So I'm guessing Natural Born Killers was sufficiently well-known in Japan that the pun could survive localization?

Yep, "Natural Born Killers" kept its English title and and "kiss" is an English loan word in Japanese so it didn't need to be changed. I think that rarely happens.

I can't believe Homer's Great Spy Plan didn't get another season, they ended it just when the manga really got good.

Oh well, at least we have another season of A Musical with Lives on the Line to look forward to.

I still listen every week, TS (and What A Cartoon) remains a staple of my morning office routine. It's been interesting to hear them getting deeper into season 9 and officially approaching "it's bad now" territory. Soon enough they'll be talking about episodes I've never seen!

Also shoutouts to Henry for making a REALLY deep cut Hollywood Handbook reference ("Beef Barnes") a while back.

Bob and Henry were briefly talking about theoretically maybe redoing some of the earlier Talking Simpsons episodes in the future. I’m just about done my second relisten of the podcast and I would say don’t bother. Besides season 1 you guys quickly figured out your groove and it still holds up.

I will say though that your post-Chris material and your shift to guest focused episodes has been fantastic for bringing interesting and alternative perspectives to the show.

I like this show a lot and stand in awe of the vast amount of content they produce. I would be fine with seeing them phase out the Simpsons at a certain point, since I think their audience mostly listens out of nostalgia for the early seasons. It would be neat to hear them dip into some random well-regarded later seasons to hear their reactions though. The Michael and Us podcast did that recently and it was pretty funny.

Their King of the Hill and Futurama mini series were both great, so there's years worth of content to pull from those shows and I'll keep listening.

The recent season has been the first time the hosts getting off-topic has been bad enough for me to skip an episode unfinished (everyone getting PTSD flashback over PE classes especially) but then I listen to the Cartoons 101 guy having an episode about an entire season of an Adult Swim show that is 2/3rds shooting the poo poo about how bad LA traffic is and how awesome his unproduced pilots are and I have a newfound appreciation for how consistent Talking Simpsons is in wringing 90 minutes of on-topic discussion out of a 20 minute cartoon.

The personal stories are some of the most enjoyable stuff for me - I enjoy hearing guests who were also "banned" from watching The Simpsons growing up; I love self-indulgent, go-nowhere stuff like Henry's Tales of the Tape because it reminds me of my own obsessive VHS hoarding as a teen (I didn't try to lose the commercials, though, I couldn't trust myself to do that properly.)

Speaking of, you got me to check in on Matthew Jay's Twitter feed and I'm very tempted to subscribe to his Adult Swim podcast Patreon just to hear their episode about MTV's Undergrads:

I have strong memories of watching the full run of Undergrads over and over one summer. There are only a handful of episodes and they would just play them continuously.

I also just remembered Kevin Spencer, Canada’s garbage impersonation of early Adult Swim shows/ South Park.
