My 'favorite' thing about this ad image (because holy poo poo, that's what it is) is that they boast this anti-suicide vest will really 'reduce the headache' of prisoners attempting to kill themselves. Stone-cold, ad copy.

The first thing that came to my mind seeing this was Les Gammas! I then went to Google image search to look up some picture to post here, and... drat, doesn't show up on the search page via this link. I swear it was there originally. Zopotantor has a new favorite as of 20:12 on Jul 2, 2019 |

Zopotantor posted:Japanese bees do. European bees never learned that trick. I think there are some species of bee that overheat at the same temperature that the hornets do. In the case of Japanese bees and hornets the bees overheat and die at only a couple of degrees more than the hornets but because the hornets are so huge bees can swarm them as individuals instead of fighting swarm to swarm. So it's kind of a confluence of things all coming together and then the bees going "yeah gently caress these guys it's overheat o'clock." The bees will tend to take a bunch of casualties along the way but they fight it as a war of attrition. If the hive survives and all the attacking hornets die then it's bees 1, hornets 0.

that is nasty. what I found out recently is that each "worm" is not an individual creature. they're appendages of a tumorous colony of tissue that is apparently like a hive creature with different types of worms taking on different roles. sometimes they get infected by multiple species of parasites and the parasites have a little war inside the snail to decide who gets to ruin his life. here's what they look like if you cut them out of poor dead snail.
