Samus has better normals, actual combo ability, and isn't utter garbage in aerial combat. Also they don't really play very similarly at all now that I think about it.

I'm also not entirely convinced Hero neutral B is better than charge shot but that's probably bias and familiarity talking.

Yeesh, Meister just bodied T in that game 4. You can't DI out as Chrom or you die, so when you DI in against G&W he just keeps nairing you until you're at 80 and then 2 frames you with forward tilt at the ledge. Both of T's characters had godawful disadvantage states against G&W.

I super don't understand how to use Hero at all. All his normals seem slow as hell, and it feels really weird to look away from the game to use DownB.

Been playing Hero for about a day. Some thoughts about them, in no particular order:

No combos! Not a one. You can get strings sometimes at super early percents but nothing seems to be true or reliable.
No multihit normals, either. You can press Ftilt again to get a second hit but I don't think that really counts. He is single-hit man.
I wouldn't put it past Sakurai to have done this on purpose, given his role as THE turn-based character.

Hits like a goddamn truck! His Fsmash is stupid strong, even without crit, and is a serious danger to shields if buffed by Oomph or Psyche Up, you can usually pop it with just a tiny bit of charge.
Kit is full of moves that kill at shockingly low percents from center-stage, even without going into the spell menu. Might have the highest concentration of gently caress-you power out of the whole cast.
Hands down the strongest chargable projectile in the game in Kafrizz. It's like shooting a warlock punch!
Kazap also kills absurdly early, but is very expensive and can have a hard time connecting if your opponent doesn't get hit by the initial shock.
MP helps to reign him in a bit in this regard, but he makes quick work of stocks regardless.

Great reach on sword moves, and in general thanks to his magic. Utilt is wonderful.
Likes platforms due to his ability to shark through them with his tall Fair and Bair, and his huge Utilt.
Spike is strong and feels very easy to land.
Frizz and Zap are both very extremely useful ranged options at all levels of charge. The Zap tree in particular is fantastic, because as far as I can tell it's just fast, free range and doesn't count as a projectile.
The Whoosh tree is pretty good for edgeguarding. The tornadoes stick around forever, and can stagespike unwary foes.
Don't forget you can block with Hero's shield while idle or crouching, just like the Links. The first hit of Ftilt also stuffs projectiles.

Subpar speed and poor air acceleration, with a dearth of fast moves. Fair and especially Bair are obnoxiously slow in particular.
This actually makes sense canonically, given that DQ protags almost always has a subpar speed stat.
Unfortunately, it also translates into a really poor disadvantage state, with few options for breaking out of combos.
Hitboxes on non-sword moves like Uair and Dtilt feel super tiny. There's also really no reward for landing them, since he has no combos and usually has better options available.
Nonexistent OOS options, except maybe Whoosh if there's a platform above you. Usmash would be okay but its hitbox is really thin and there's no scooping hitbox like Marth's, so you have to be right underneath them.
Characters with a reflector or pocket will absolutely kill you with your own bullshit. Consider a secondary in these situations.

Hero feels like he stepped on a whole bunch of fighters toes just by existing.
Has the Links' shield mechanic and dash attack.
Stole Robin's magic swordsman gimmick and arguably did it better.
Has a better charge shot than characters whose kits are based around their charge shots.
Ganondorf-tier kill power.
poo poo is wild.

The Command Menu would be entirely busted if it wasn't random.
Its wealth of powerful options is balanced(ish) by the fact that to use it, you have to shift your attention far away from the action and spend a second or two:
1: Reading over the list of options
2: Understanding those options
3: Working out how those options would apply to the situation at hand
4: Selecting an option

And it's a different list every time. Even if you're a speed-reader, it takes longer than you would think to do all that, and isn't really practical in the middle of combat.
You COULD gamble on the first option without looking, but they smartly packed the list with some duds and a self-destruct(that shows up more often than you'd think) to punish you for guessing.
That said, the buffs don't have any special criteria to be effective, so your brain will naturally start seeking those out in the list faster without the extra step of application getting in the way. What a pal.

There are a couple of spells that are worth mentioning for one reason or another:
Magic Burst is, deadly, HUGE(like half of FD at full MP) and pretty much unreactable. If you're over 50% you're probably dead.
Kamikazee can be worth going for if you're ahead, its hitbox is absolutely massive, deals 44% at minimum, and goes through shields.
It also slows time right before the explosion, but can be airdodged through due to its low active frames. DA up if you're trying to avoid it since you're given more frames of invulnerability going up than down.
Kaboom sucks foes into its explosion with a powerful windbox and kills very early. The projectile for it also travels very fast.
You can heavily damage people by falling on them with Kaclang! Good luck landing it.
Whack and Thwack have a chance to kill instantly, but serve different purposes. Whack is a projectile that travels in a wiggly line, and Thwack is a large AOE ahead of you. Think before you throw it out!
You can stack buffs, if you're lucky enough to roll consecutive ones. Become a superfast murder machine with Acceleratle and Oomph, or pair Oomph and Psyche Up to delete your opponent in one hit.
Always go for Hocus Pocus if you like fun. You can become giant, invisible, recover all your MP, and even become invincible! Oh, and there's also other stuff that happens sometimes.
Snooze actually works on airborne foes, sort of. On-hit, it scoots them toward the stage. If they hit ground within a certain timeframe, they fall asleep. Otherwise, they regain control.
Hatchet Man is almost guaranteed to kill, but you'll never hit with it unless they're shield-broken or asleep.
If you know you can't make it back with Kaswoosh or don't have enough MP to cast it, try rolling for Zoom.
Bounce shuts down projectile characters hard, but watch out for other reflectors. poo poo can get out of hand fast.

Overall I really like him. His spell menu is a remarkably fun gimmick and even though his normals leave something to be desired, he just feels FUN. It's a blast to play around with all of his jank RNG bullshit and not have to worry about landing optimized combo strings. One of the funnies matches matches I've had to date is one where it went to sudden death and I gambled on the command menu and happened to yeet myself directly into the encroaching blastzone with Zoom. He's not really a character I think you can take seriously, and I predict he'll be very popular with casual players and very UNpopular with hardcore players as a result. Ironically Hero might be the most "Smash Bros." character to date. Fun, chaotic, and sometimes unfair.

As someone whose best character is currently Samus, they really play nothing alike. Samus is way more zone-y and evasive. Hero is like some kind of Robin/Ike combo. They just feel totally different.

Teach me how to properly beat down with Samus and how to use her throws, because I find they're terribly weak. The zoning range game is easy enough to understand, but I find she's got some great melee moves that I'm not exploiting well.

Hero sh rar bair is timed to come out just as you reach the ground if you buffer it. Zap spells are like your missing normals, zap 1 and 2 are really good. This character is like 80% reads, 20% reacting to downb options, you really do choose how you engage this turn before it actually happens like a jRPG.

Caveating first that I'm not all that good (~4 millions gsp), I've found it key with Samus to have charge shot stashed as much as possible...but to very rarely use it. People will expect it and it will throw off their game, and since it's so fast you can toss it out when they truly can't do much about it. Throws, then, become a way to get them off stage and then charge shot and/or come out so you can gimp them. Up throw is fairly useful when stringing into her Aerials too and can kill at high %.

As someone else said, her tilts are super useful too. I love her down tilt maybe a bit too much, very quick to come out, can hit around shields well, and either pops up into a possible combo or kills outright at higher %.

Most of all, I find her fun less due to zoning and more because of her built in misdirection. Since the bombs can change her direction she can really go any which way, and she has so many options at different ranges you can change tactics on the fly. If I can get someone to chase me I can rack up a ton of damage in a hurry, and then her kill moves start to include things like properly placed fairs and uairs.

Never going to argue that she's better than a middling character, and I should probably focus on improving someone with a higher ceiling, but I love using her so much.

Ok, fair enough. I've never really played Samus and from my perspective they looked extremely similar (yeah, Hero has slower attacks but he also has better mobility, recovery and way more options in general). Good to know Samus still has her own niche.

This is my list anyway. It lists stages by franchise and then more or less says what songs I thought should go into that stage (with somewhat obscure labels, but usually referencing the game they come from), and usually with a number denoting the total number of songs for that stage. It doesn't actually say which individual tracks have what frequency. Also, my nomenclature is a bit obtuse at times. Let me know if you don't understand it. If it's really going to become a thing I should spruce it up a bit. The last ones I did are far more organized than the first ones I did, like Kirby, which just describes the style of the songs, which doesn't really help anyone I guess.

FYI I'd be interested if you did want to jazz this up. Already used your ideas to sort out the Zelda stages though also did my own thing with some other stages (for Wario I put JP vocals on one & English vocals on the other whereas it looks like you want vocal songs as little as humanly possible)

I can do that. I'll probably start by just making a proper format all throughout, so it's a bit more legible, but I probably won't go all out and list each track title with what stage they go into, unless there's an easily copy/pasteable list of all the track titles and stage names that I could just insert in without issue.

And you're right. I absolutely hate the songs with vocals in this game, and I give them a chance to play, but desperately hope they never show up. I just find them all particularly embarrassing.
