I choose to believe that most of Father Ted's greatness was down to the show's actors.

everything i heard about graham linehan's tenure on shows like Father Ted and Black Books is that while he's listed as "co-creator" he did gently caress all of note to contribute while the other co-creator (Arthur Mathews and Dylan Moran, respectively) were the actual creative forces behind the show.

that may just be retroactive attempts at justifying liking those shows, i dunno, but i buy it.

He did contribute significantly to writing some episodes, if you know what you're looking for its not that hard to spot his style. They're usually the least funny ones.

Yeah Glinner is one of those co-creators who works of the series framework to work on episodes usually. I'm sure hes had some input on how the overall series worked but its more like a featured writer deal. Until the IT crowd, which also had some controversy over the really dated gay jokes in that earlier episode.

Hes also ruined my favourite Alan Partridge episode by being a guest star in it.

When i first saw his twitter account the daft bitterness, narcissim and cartoon avi convinced me that was a parody.

There's a scene in Garth Marenghi where a man gets impregnated by a giant eyeball with a huge phallus. That moment has been sullied since Graham Linehan has a bit-part in the scene.

This Jim Sterling video is a first for me. Typically, I watch videos about AAA game company greed even though I'm not interested in the games they cover. But I was legitimately interested in the Crash Team Racing remaster. Not anymore.
I have no idea how James swung Gilbert but I'm gonna be there for it.

That reminds me, I haven't listened to an episode of Gilbert Gottfried's Amazing Colossal Podcast in a long time. Given how streaming services are doing their damnedest to memory hole movies that haven't come out in the last few years, it serves a more important purpose of preserving old Hollywood than ever. Plus, I always find the same lewd stories about Pat McCormick and Cesar Romero funny no matter how many times he brings them up.

Yeah, that's news to me, I thought it was just free DLC to get the extra characters/tracks/karts/etc. Lemme just crack this video open and see how this works.

I thought it was the standard 'do things in game for money to buy things' set up beforehand.

Yeah, he does interviews with people (usually) with experience in older Hollywood, TV, and music, along with a cohost who I believe is a comedy writer. Every so often he likes to bring up stories he's told before about actors and they're usually dirty. My favorite is the one about how supposedly, Cesar Romero liked to get a bunch of young male prostitutes in a room together, and he would pull his pants down and have them throw orange wedges at his bare rear end.

If you've heard of the rumor that Danny Thomas liked to lie down under glass tables and have hookers poo poo on it, that's another story he likes to bring up regularly. Hollywood has always been for perverts.

The story involving Pat McCormick (which has been confirmed as true by multiple guests) also involves the use of a prostitute. I guess the lesson I'm getting out of this is if you're in show business and you want to get your rocks off in a weird way, pay someone to do it.

I HATE THAT HEDGEHOG, BROTHER!

From what I can tell, it started with these series of replies to this animation:

https://twitter.com/egoraptor/status/1156735123397550080
https://twitter.com/egoraptor/status/1156735319045099521

I can see his point, as well as feeling it's a slight overreaction. It's pretty whatever I feel. But I think this struck a nerve with twitter, who then decided to start posting things Arin said in the past as some form of "gotcha". Except it's stuff that Arin has himself brought up multiple times and apologized for and said he regrets saying those things. Searching on twitter for "Egoraptor" just brings me to a bunch of @Egoraptor replies so I can't find anything specific, but I'm sure one of the examples is when he said "nigga" multiple times in that Fat Refund rap that he and 3 other creators made. He has said he regrets that and it's not something he wouldn't (and he doesn't) do nowadays. This got him trending for a bit apparently, which prompted that recent tweet. Overall it just kind of seems like an overreaction caused by an overreaction but that's twitter. He absolutely used to say stuff in his work or Game Grumps that he doesn't anymore. I stumble across older My Brother My Brother and Me clips on youtube from EARLY episodes where they say things that I could never imagine current McElroys saying. It's same stuff here.

It's certainly no Projared situation or anything

edit: Plus him and Arin literally talked it out like grown adults:

turned the video off after 20 seconds, not just because of the lovely meme faces or the character with the communism shirt we're supposed to hate

but you know that Umbrella Academy video I posted from the female critic I posted? I watched one other video from her to see if she was cool and I could post her, even though the video was about this "youtube animation criticism scene" I was completely unfamiliar with

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dduKJPxnAYk

And those 20 seconds of that 12 minute "funny parody" video is everything Quinn takes down, everything that had me reeling from how toxic it was. The criticism scene is poo poo. It's a bunch of people using tactics similar to comicsgate chuds and not understanding why people like empathy or relatable stories. Parody character going "Hi I'm an INTROVERT HURR HURR HURR" because you know introverts shouldn't talk about themsleves or try to seek an understanding with others, they aren't people. gently caress off.

yea say whatever about GG's video style but Arin has always been a pretty earnest dude so I'm not shocked he took some offense at some lovely 'community critique' like that dude's offering. The main 'drama' (again like he said it's not even real drama, both he and Pelo seem fine with each other regardless) is a bunch if dipshits think because Arin came up in the Newgrounds animation edgelord days he doesn't have any right to, ya know, grow up and realize that kinda toxicity isn't actually a replacement for humor, so now they're all "OH WOW THROWING NEWGROUNDS UNDER THE BUS ARIN ENJOY YOUR SJW FANS!!!!!"

I don't think Ninja's ever been suspended. The only slur thing I can think of from him is rapping the N-word along to a song on stream. Ninja is the one who doesn't want to stream with women because he's afraid of what his fanbase will say or do.

A billion dollars...that's surely bollocks there. I mean, come on that can't be right...can it? Nah, surely not. I'm sure that's not right. Probably.
