Actually it's the best Zelda, for a lot of reasons, but primarily because 100%-er completionists deserve to be punished

You don't have to 100% every game, it's fine to not get all the korok seeds. They even make fun of you for doing so because of the reward

2 years later and people are still talking about the seeds. I just got all of the memories, is there a way to re-watch them in the game?

If a shlub like me can get all the seeds in ~40 hours, then a pro could easily do it (and the rest of the game) in half that time, thanks to: 1) actually knowing where the things are to a precision greater than "somewhere within 100 meters of my map marker" 2) planning a route that's more efficient than "the first thing my computer spat out that wasn't obviously buggy and wrong" 3) being able to whistle-sprint and ride on flying logs and roll through walls and whatever other physics engine hijinks have been discovered

I beat the Master Sword Trials! Those last few floors with the guardians were real stressful. Except, oddly, the last floor. Which I beat pretty quickly and smoothly. ( because I put an ancient arrow into the Lynel)

I am very grateful that they went to the effort of placing twice as many seeds as necessary for maxing out your slots, because it means I can ignore all the annoying "throw rocks at the tiny circle for ten minutes because analog aim is bullshit" trials and not miss out on anything.

I'd never noticed before but there's a little campsite with a cookpot under Kakariko Bridge; there's a metal treasure chest down there as well. However what was interesting was the 2 metal boxes (and a 3rd one on the other side caught in some rocks) and a single small rock. I couldn't really get them arranged to make a bridge out to the rocks near the korok ring because I didn't bother to go grab the 3rd one -- you probably do need all three to make a walkable platform out there -- but it looks like that's an alternative solution rather than yeeting rocks off the bridge from above.

I've started playthrough 3 of this game, and I just noticed: There's a Korok on top of the old man's hut. When you push Link to exhaustion, he does this adorable "ready to go" move with his arms after he's finished breathing heavily. Seriously, it's really cute. This game is just full of stuff. And I say this as someone who obsessively runs around and managed to find all but one of the Shrines before beating Gannon for the first time.

I've taken breaks, but usually because I'm super busy with projects or on a trip, but even those don't last for more than a few weeks tops. I sometimes will just go in and fool around on Hyrule for 15-20 minutes just to decompress.

the extreme darkness island in the north was surprisingly relaxing. didn't see any enemies aside form the hinox I got the orb from which is a shame because putting on the Ninja clothes and shadow warrioring a bunch of bobokins standing around would have been aesthetic as gently caress

It's just such a wake up call when Nintendo in their first attempt outdoes veterans of open world design so hardcore. Skyrim just doesn't hold a candle to it. Not just bug-wise, but how everything in its design is made to complement a style of play, from shrines to sidequests to koroks, there's hardly anything wasted or anything that feels lacking in comparison. It does help that cooking is actually a complete mechanic.

If you drop 7-8 lynel (or any double/triple) bows at an enemy camp and they all start using them the game starts to freak out and not load thing property letting you switch to another shield while the model stays with the previous which you then drop and it becomes the first shield.

Alright, good to know. I'm kind of late to the party and I only started playing this game a week ago, so I think I'm going to stay away from that kind of thing for the moment, but it's something I'll be remembering for any future playthroughs. If you've got any other neat hints, I'll certainly appreciate those too.

Don't worry about exploiting bugs on your first playthrough. Just play the game naturally and enjoy the beauty of it!

Don't you worry, I've certainly been doing plenty of that! This has been a great experience so far and I can really appreciate now how this became one of the most highly-regarded Zelda games of all time so quickly.

Yeah I only exploited one major bug that a few days later Nintendo patched and it allowed me to get all the korok seeds I needed which was nice, but my second play through I’ve actually been having fun finding them.

Is there a cheat to get like an extra five weapon slots immediately at start? That's the only thing that would be legitimately useful, the rest of the exploits I've seen posted just look like fun

I feel like there's a Stages of Grief model applied to Korok hunting. At first they're cute. Then you wish you had more space in your inventory. Then you're annoyed that it takes so many to max out your spaces. Then you start to enjoy finding them because it makes you visit places you otherwise wouldn't. I'm there now, I don't know what the next stage is. The whole time I've hated the boulder and rock chucking ones though
