The same is true for a lot of the supes, you could have a howitzer in human form (and severe emotional issues) or you could just...train a regular crew to use a howitzer

I think the unspoken caveat here is that the government/military would have gotten them before they became power-drunk unstable assholes and such.

I'm not sure how supportive police would be about supes- seems like the supes would be stealing their thunder a lot of the time and if the public sees supes that could just, say, teleport suspects into jail or turn their bullets into steam or something then there's little need to have cops doing a whole bunch of things. Not to mention countless undercover cops that will get maimed or killed by accident from supes intervening by accident.

Haha yeah sometimes his suit looked great but especially towards the later episodes of the show there were parts where the foam muscles were comically obvious and just free floating while he moved around.

There’s also a scene where queen Mauves suit is way too tight and her back skin is just spilling out. I was like drat, someone loosen that up for her.

Yeah but that relies on them being able to reliably raise them to behave and play nice, which is exactly what Vaught tried to do with Homelander and look how that turned out.

How many people in 1000 people have the personality to be a decentl spy? its the kind of role you really need to choose yourself.

The police have higher ranks and specialists who no doubt steal the thunder of lots of beat cops all the time.
Supes would just perform specific roles to do with their particular powers. I'd imagine that the more combat oriented supes would just be doing the job of SWAT. The way they behave in these situations would also be toned down, they are going to be responsible for the damage they cause, have to do all the paperwork and face investigations by internal affairs. Just like any other cop. (OTOH it's not entirely unknown for police organisations to coverup misdeeds done by cops).

I'm only on episode 6, but I'm surprised at how much I'm enjoying this. I've never read it, but I've heard The Boys described as the most Garth Ennis comic book ever, and so I figured this would be too over-the-top to be a very good show. But no, the violence and sexual stuff actually plays pretty well on a screen -- I'm actually wondering if it's better that it's on screen rather than in a comic book. Scenes like the super who accidentally crushes the guy's head under her rear end -- even without seeing it, I can picture the comic book Garth Ennis version of that, and it's gotta be a big gratuitous splash page with tits on display and gore flying everywhere, the sort of thing that I'd be kinda embarrassed for people to see me reading. On TV, you can do a gory scene like that in a split second, then the gore isn't front and center anymore and the girl grabs a shirt to cover up. In the comics, you have to spend a few minutes just taking in that horrible image, then it just sits there on the page while you're reading the dialogue. That sort of thing put me off reading anything from Ennis, but it feels a lot less gratuitous in a TV show.

:Shh: That exact scene is exclusive to the show but there are plenty of worse scenes with tits and gore galore in the comic to make up for it.

I liked season 1, I had a couple of theories while I was watching that turned into deadends and some new ones after I finished and read about the differences with the comics.

I thought the reason that A-train never recognized Hughie was because they used Doppelganger to do the apology and handshake instead of wasting A-trains time.

Im also wondering if it was indeed black noir who raped Becca, just because of how virginal Homelanders experience with Stillerman was.

This wouldn't really make any sense considering Homelander admitted to having sex with her. Then he went and found his kid.

I haven't read the comics but it was my understanding that homelander really thinks that he's the one who is doing all these bad things when it's really black noir. Also, black noir is his clone so the baby looking like him is not surprising.

Yea but iirc in the comics he's not really sure what he has or hasn't done. In the show, he was bragging to Butcher that he hosed his wife. It definitely seems like the show is going in another direction than the comic.

It seems like Doppelganger should be kept under a pretty strict watch and using them for something sensitive like Hughie's handshake deal would be a bad way to let them get tons of incriminating poo poo.

As for Homelander it's possible he was lying because he pieced together Butcher blamed him for something involving Becca and was just twisting the knife, but I'd rather that sequence not be a fakeout of death's door dream even if it does upend the trajectory of the comics
