https://www.billboard.com/charts/hot-100/2019-09-07 lizzo continues her path of global domination i guess. i remember going to see her at free shows around the twin cities area, and now i can't even get a ticket for her two shows here at the armory (capacity 8400!)

For anyone who was worried, apparently S-K still rocks live. The new drummer is Angie Boylan, and they also brought back Katie Harkin and Toko Yasuda.

Just saw Titus Andronicus for the sixth time. I bought my tickets way in advance because it was at a small venue and I spent most of this week being kind of indifferent to going. Lo and behold it wound up being probably the most fun set I’ve seen from them. The new material sounds good, the current band is pretty tight, and of course their best songs (and they played a lot of them) still hit hard.

turnip kid posted:Looking forward to the new Sean O'Hagan LP. He's the guy that pretty much wrote all of Stereolab's string & horn arrangements (and was in Stereolab for a spell) and he's also The High Llamas' frontman. The High Llamas are one of my favorite bands ever. Thanks for the update on Sean.... been a fan since Gideon Gaye in the 90s and almost anything he releases hits my earhole in a pleasant way. Also super geeked there's a new Pernice Brothers LP, first in almost a decade? Spread the Feeling

Henchman of Santa posted:Daniel Johnston has died. i only discovered him when the devil and daniel johnston documentary came out so i'm a poser or whatever, but i got my hands on every cassette and CD i could after that and wore them out listening to him all through high school. i've always found it impossible to explain what makes him so endearing or why i love him so much. he seemed like the kind of person completely incapable of guile, just completely genuine. it really showed in his music. i wish i had got the chance to see him perform. i'll miss him a lot.

I've been a big fan of Men I Trust for a couple years and they've finally put out this album and it's wall to wall amazing, they're sort of all over the place in terms of inspirations but tend to be easily explained as "dreampop with some sick basslines" please give them a chance!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVg30U6O764

I actually just finished listening to this and by the end I was bored. The first half is great but it goes on for too long.

Timothy Blackman, Wellington's answer to Sun Kil Moon or Mount Eerie (which is to say, our best sad eloquent dude with a guitar), just released his first album in five or six years. http://timothyblackman.bandcamp.com/album/brightest-days-3 If you like sad indie folk, you should check Tim out.
