A student came to class yesterday with a kitten they adopted that morning and asked if it was okay to have it in class with them so it wouldn't be alone. It was the most adorable accommodation I've ever made as a professor. It slept in her hoodie the whole class.

I went to the Oregon Coast last weekend, so here are a couple of lovely cell phone pictures. Multnomah Falls is very pretty, even if it is an absolute rear end to get to.  Camp 18 Kitties!     There was a fifth kitty there, but I was never able to find them.  Guy with a seagull on his head!  A cow that was hanging out near one of the rest areas.  They stood like that as I came up and started fiddling with my phone to take this and as soon as I took the picture it kinda went "Oh, you done? Alright then, see ya!" and went back to the rest of the herd.

One of my cats was just baffled that I couldn't follow her over the privacy fence or under the shed when we first became friends. I think she was also trying to get me to come meet her children.

Looks like they're in Nara. A town near Kyoto. Well worth a visit if you want temples and gardens. Was sort of the spiritual capital of Japan before that whole deal moved to Kyoto. The deer are holy and you can feed them crackers if you want.

I was in Nara last week and the deer are very cute and polite and will bow to you, but the instant they think you have deer crackers all bets are off and they will mob you and chase you and nip you to get at them. They tried to eat the money of one tourist who was buying crackers. I'll see if I can find some pictures I took.

I used to have a picture of one of my friends in tug-of-war with a Nara deer who was trying to eat her map, but I lost that picture to a hard drive failure. It was just before cloud storage became a thing.
