veni veni veni posted:I am worse at this game than any MP game I have ever played and I seriously have no fuckin idea why. I even played the alpha for like 6 hours, loved it and consistently did really well in the 2v2 mode. I've also played a bunch of BLOPS 4 lately and have been doing pretty well. But...like, all night I just did awful in this. Was last place in probably 60% of the games I played tonight. Terrible K/D. Just felt like people always had the drop on me, couldn't jive with the maps at all, tried to change up how I played repeatedly . I am just so goddamn bad at this game lol. Did you play alone, or with other goons? This is important.

All right it's time for Happy Noodle Boy Real Talk about Call of Duty Modern Warfare beta: The game, after a night of playing, feels real good. TTK is I think perfect. Guns are lethal and efficient. Positioning plays a HUGE factor in gunfights. Between headglitching and leaning/mounting, map knowledge / sight line awareness will be incredibly important moving forward especially in objective based modes. The game feels campy as gently caress because of a few factors. Everyone is still learning every door/window/hall and it's easier to just wait for people to come to you. This will change. The other reason is the more important one. Weapons. Weapon classes appear to truly have a design pushing them in a certain direction/role. With TTK being where it is, ADS speed is absolutely critical when rushing and unfortunately none of the default classes and early weapons give you the tools to improve this. So if you're rushing you will probably die to anyone already ADS and waiting. SMGs will be king once everything opens up and you can customize them for killing ASAP. The urban map design and sprawling layouts of some of the maps will really steer things way from your boring rear end 3 lane designs with long sight lines where AR/LMG/Snipers are the rule of law. The game has some kinks to be worked on just like every COD (spawns in general, minimap). Unfortunately there is one big glaring issue with the beta that will ultimately lead to me just not playing it much this weekend. THE LEVEL CAP IS GOING TO BE 10 FOR THIS ENTIRE WEEKEND HOLY loving poo poo*. Half of gunsmith is locked. Most of the perks are locked. All of the killstreaks are locked. Tons of guns are locked. You hit level 10 in like 5 games and... you're done. You can play around with a few things and change it up a bit but right now there's just not enough content for you to mess with an entire weekend trying poo poo out. * I haven't found anything saying otherwise.

All Things CoD: Modern Warfare By a Goon Who Likes to Type Goons who want to know what this game offers, I have compiled of list of everything I know about this game right now. I borrowed some information from other sources, but most of the top part here I did myself. Just bear with me. It's an effort post. It's gonna be real bad, but bad is good now, hence why Michael Jackson did a song about it. Also, I'll continue to format this, add some photos, and I'll be bookmarking and pinning this on the discord (the thread is already bookmarked and pinned). Here goes: Table of Contents: I-New to CoD: Modern Warfare (Read this part only that goes until the ________ stuff) II-Advanced to CoD: Modern Warfare (Read if you want to know everything that's in the game from the guns, to attachments, to maps, to killstreaks and much much more) I-New to CoD: Modern Warfare (Read this part only that goes until the ________ stuff) Game Release: October 25, 2019 Crossplay: Yes. PS4, Xbone and PC all can play together. Matchmaking looks to bring controller players together with other controller player and KB+M with other KB+M. DLC: All free. No more DLC gating. No more separating the community. New maps will be free. New content will be free. There is a kicker, and it needs to be said: The Infinity Ward team has said they want all guns to be free as well. They did say that is TBD by Activision though and there are hints that Activision may not let them. Fingers crossed they do. Zombies: Sorry, the zombie apocalypse was cured. They found the antidote. Sorry world. Why in the hell should I care about this game that’ll die?: Actually, it won’t. No more PC community is dead. No platform will die. You can play with the console people now PC crew, where this game thrives (on the consoles). Stronger toget...you know what gently caress that. We will just stop there. The A-Team who did the original Modern Warfare, which is arguably praised as the best CoD, did this one. Single player campaign is back. As is Spec Ops. No Battle Royale (that is launching separately as F2P if rumors are to be believed). Multiplayer is 1-40 players (could be more, going with what’s confirmed and has been playable). More on that. There’s something for everybody here: Goon Discord to Play With Everybody: https://discord.gg/kV2HaFf Single Player: “The campaign will feature missions in a number of European cities as well as the Middle East. In addition to playing as special forces soldiers armed with high-tech combat gear, players will also take the roll of "rebel freedom fighters" who use improvised weapons like molotov cocktails and IEDs, and have to rely on guerrilla tactics to defeat Tier One enemies.” You get a full campaign. Please release Soap Mac-T he just wants to live his life. Multiplayer: This deserves its own category so here’s my breakdown— 2v2: It’s called Gunfight. Matches can last seconds or minutes. Yes, seconds. The maps are very small. The maps here are sized as Flash Maps. The game chooses your loadout on spawn for you. Here’s the synopsis, “A new multiplayer mode called Gunfight pits two teams of two with randomized loadouts against one another on very small maps. So small that you're expected to kill one another in 40 seconds or else the rules change to force your hand. The 40 second mark might bring a capture the flag element or decide a win based on which team has the most health at the end of a timer. There's no reviving or healing in Gunfight so the matches do seem to end prior to the rule shakeup, in Chris's hand-on experience. In the videos that have been shown so far, we have seen the Pine, King, and Stack maps. Pine, as you might expect, is set in a forest clearing, and the more obliquely-named King is a warehouse MOUT training site. Stack appears to be a shipping depot.” 6v6 and 10v10: Bye bye 5v5. Welcome back 6v6. These maps are all medium sized. The maps here are known as Tactical Maps. They host Team Deathmatch and Domination for instance. 32v32 Ground War style. Big Team Battle. These are called Battle Maps. There are vehicles in this and it’s very Battlefield-esque. Expect it to play in a very similar vein. Ground War: It’s very similar to Battlefield and is their answer to it. More on maps: “Map design has always been the cornerstone of a good multiplayer experience, and it seems the developers went back to basics when designing the three map types. "Infinity Ward took some inspiration from classic deathmatch games when developing COD: Modern Warfare," the blog said. "More 'power positions' — towers and other elevated areas — are scattered throughout the maps. These give you an objective to move toward and result in more interesting, varied firefights that flow around the map." Spec Ops: Co-Op Missions! You’re given a set of scenarios and you and a co-op partner do it. It’s PvE stuff and it can be set from Easy to Hard. Things that come with multiplayer include: Gunsmith: You can customize your guns to your liking. Up to 5 “augments” on each gun. Decide your perks and what those augments do on your gun. They just make your FAMAS different than somebody else’s FAMAS for instance. For example: “Modern Warfare also introduces a new weapon customization system called Gunsmith. Weapons can be equipped with up to five custom parts, though players will have to tactfully choose from a wider pool of attachments. For example, assault rifles "usually have nine areas" to augment —a muzzle, laser, optic, stock, rear grip, magazine, underbarrel, barrel, and a perk — but only five can be selected” Killstreaks: You know what these are by now. Here are all of them— Personal Radar (3 kills): Escort drone that enables the radar for the owner, and pings nearby enemies. Counter UAV (4 kills): A drone that constantly emits a scrambling signal, disabling enemy mini maps and incrementally disrupting their sense the closer they get to it. UAV (4 kills): UAV recon ship that enables the map for all allies, and reveals enemy locations. Care Package (4 kills): Call in a random killstreak care package to your location. Cluster Strike (5 kills): Signal for a number of cluster mortars to hit the designated location. Cruise Missile (5 kills): Control a long range cruise missile with boost capabilities. Precision Airstrike (5 kills): Call in twin jets for a precision strike along the best available path. Wheelson (7 kills): Remote controlled UGV with a powerful airburst turret. Infantry Assault Vehicle (7 kills): A manned light infantry vehicle with a .50 cal machine gun on top. Emergency Airdrop (8 kills): Call in 3 random killstreak care packages to your location. VTOL Jet (8 kills): Releases an initial missile barrage before guarding a location of the player’s choice. Chopper Gunner (10 kills): Control an assault chopper armed with a turret and air to land missiles. White Phosphorus (10 kills): Cover the battlefield with white smoke flare canisters that will disorient the enemy, and burn any that wander too close. Support Helo (11 kills): Call in a heavy assault helo with twin turrets to patrol the map. Gunship (12 kills): Heavy assault gunship with three types of armaments. Advanced UAV (12 kills): Orbital UAV that reveals the enemy’s direction on the mini map. Juggernaut (15 kills): Call in a care package that contains the Juggernaut assault gear. Maps on launch and Guns on launch to be added: We know of over a dozen maps so far for the various game modes. We know of 39 guns in the game currently in the beta. This is more than Black Ops 4 has including their idiot loot box guns lol. Other Multiplayer Items: “Other notable multiplayer features include: The ability to mount your weapon on edges of objects and walls. Doors that can be ran through (loudly), peeked through, opened with the press of a button, or destroyed with an explosive. The ability to reload while aiming down sights. More realistic bullet travel and penetration. The removal of classes. The differences between Operators in Modern Warfare are strictly cosmetic. The ability to, with the press of a button, equip a copy of the loadout you were most recently killed by. (Think Modern Warfare 2's Copycat deathstreak.) Night mode: Players, equipped with night vision goggles, deploy on near-pitch-black versions of maps. A realism mode that removes UI and hit markers. New visual effects (sparks, smoke) and animations (gun movement, reloading).” The Beta: PS4 Early Access: September 12-13 Open Beta 1: September 14-16 Open Beta 2: September 19-23 (cross-play enabled) Xbox One Early Access: September 19-20 (cross-play enabled) Open Beta: September 21-23 (cross-play enabled) PC Early Access: September 19-20 (cross-play enabled) Open Beta: September 21-23 (cross-play enabled) How to Buy: On sale. Find a sale. PC, use a digital store besides Blizzard. Console, use Amazon. Just find a drat sale. Goons with money to blow, here ya go below: Four special editions of Modern Warfare have been announced beyond the standard package: Operator Edition ($80 USD, digital only): Includes a custom in-game tactical knife and three Operator Packs. (Operator Packs include "a themed Operator skin, cosmetic weapon variant, and additional bonus content.") Operator Enhanced Edition ($100 USD, digital only): Includes all the content from the Operator Edition, plus 3,000 Call of Duty points. Precision Edition ($100 USD, physical): Includes a custom in-game tactical knife, three Operator Packs, a steelbook case, Modern Warfare-branded thumbsticks and controller skin, and an animated Calling Card. Dark Edition ($200 USD, physical): Includes functional night vision goggles, a display stand for the goggles, steelbook case, custom in-game tactical knife, three Operator Packs, and an animated Calling Card. Also, I'll do a giveaway for the game in discord after beta is done. Stay tuned and good luck! Lastly, performance upgrades for PC: “Modern Warfare will support DirectX Raytracing (DXR) on PC. And that means we can surmise that Activision and Call of Duty will be working with Nvidia and the GeForce RTX cards to support the feature. Ray tracing will even be used for audio. In a press briefing, Stephen Miller, Audio Director for the game said, "With the weapon reflection system, it uses ray tracing out into the environment and plays three sounds at point of impact. So as you're running around you actually get different sounds constantly as it behaves with the geometry." Supporting DXR means that Activision/Infinity Ward is upgrading the IW engine to support DirectX 12, since that's a requirement for all games that support DXR. We'll have to wait and see how that effects performance once Modern Warfare launches, as traditionally DX12 engines have favored AMD hardware.” Other Notes: There is a lot more to be revealed. Will there be Gun Game? Solo multiplayer? More maps? More modes? How free is everything going to be really? Blah blah blah. Fact of the matter is this is being touted as the largest CoD yet and capitalizes on what made MW great with inspiration from other FPS titles. Let the beta decide if this is a good time to try this franchise for the first time, jump back in or leave it all together for greener pastures. My excitement has went from 6, to midnight. Thank you and hail santa. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ II-Advanced to CoD: Modern Warfare (Read if you want to know everything that's in the game from the guns, to attachments, to maps, to killstreaks and much much more) Goons, I took this from this giant reddit post and spruced it up. Realistic: 100 health, headshots are extra lethal (always if not most always one-hit kill), no HUD (kill obituary, hitmarkers, ammo count, etc) Hardcore: (30 health, reduced HUD, friendly-fire) Standard Team Deathmatch Free for All Domination Search and Destroy Headquarters Cyber Attack: 10 v 10 20 v 20: Uses unique large maps for the mode. Vehicles like ATVs and IAV can be driven on the maps that are used for this gamemode "100+" player Ground War Gunfight 2v2 First to six round wins One life per round Spawn with random class loadouts Each player has the same class Classes change every two rounds No perks No auto-health regen Eliminate enemies to win 40 sec round timer If 40 sec runs out and both teams have player(s) still alive, Overtime starts in which a flag spawns in center of map Capping Overtime flag wins round Gunfight (Variant) Same rules as base Gunfight, except no randomized classes Spawn with M19 Scavenge weapons and equipment from the map Maps Standard Azhir Cave (Day/Night*) Euphrates Bridge Gun Runner Hackney Yard *Side note: Night maps will require night-vision goggles to be used in order to be effectively played. Without them, many areas of a map can and will look pitch black. While using the night-vision goggles, the players ability to ADS is limited. Many guns will not let you use normal optics to ADS. Some guns/situations that can be ADS-ed with are pistols and weapons with elevated optics(?). Rather, when trying to ADS, your character will hold his gun as an angle and a laser sight will be active. This laser sight will help you aim your weapons more effectively. As well, players on the enemy team can see these lasers while they are active. Big Maps Big maps are part of the Ground War playlist, and are only available to play with +20v20. These big maps feature vehicles such as ATVs, helicopters, APCs, the drivable tank killstreak, and more. Additionally, we've seen that gamemodes are adjusted for the bigger map. Domination is changed from 3 capture points to 5 capture points. It is currently unknown what other gamemodes are available for Ground War and how they will be adjusted. Grazna Raid Aniyah Palace (Codename Downtown) Gunfight Docks Seaside fighting King (Day/Night) Indoor training arena Plywood "buildings" as main environment Pine Forest training arena Natural terrain as main environment Various manufactured wooden and sheet metal structures Speedball Outdoor training course Stack Outdoor training arena Desert Shipping crates as main environment Other mechanics and observations Movement Sprint (normal sprinting speed, unlimited) Super sprint (run faster than normal sprinting. Limited use, and takes longer to pull up weapon when coming out of it) Fast mantling Sliding Gameplay -Can pick-up placed equipment such as C4 and Claymores -No mini-map. Replaced by compass and outlined teammates to compensate for map/player awareness -All guns use the projectile system rather than hit-scans -Reload while ADS -Bringing back "exploration and discovery" into maps, similar to how maps were in the original MW series. A prime example of this were the "easter egg" paths and spots on Highrise, which had you running across cranes, tight ledges, window seals and more, allowing you to get on top of the map -3rd person executions -Quick-scoping present, but harder than previous games -Weapon mounting: mount weapons on the side of cover for better recoil control -Kill trading currently present -Weapons have a significant amount of recoil -Doors can be interacted with: Normal open, sprint through to open, slow enter, blast open with explosion -Light switches can be turned on and off -Toggleable fire modes: Full-auto, semi-auto, and burst fire. Combination depends on the gun, and can be changed via weapon perks -Night-vision goggles always usable in multiplayer. Night-vision mandatory for night maps. ADS is limited while using night-vision. Weapons are equipped with laser-sights to help compensate lack of ADS Visuals -Grenade cooking visual timer Seems to be removed -Tactical off-hand throws -Weapons have "weight" when looking and turning around -Meleeing while equipped with a Throwing Knife will cause the player to slash with the knife rather than use the normal gun-bash animation -NVGs will be visible on all Operators, and will also show the goggles down when active and the goggles up when inactive on the player model ICR fucked around with this message at 02:37 on Sep 16, 2019 |

In played two rounds last night before bed and was terrible. Movement is so much different (and rightfully so) than Apex Legends which is the only thing I’ve played the last few months. Gonna take some getting used to.

The internet is angry there isn’t a mini map right now without a uav assist. I like no mini map.

Personally I'd rather have one, they already have a mode w/o minimap, hardcore. Nobody gives a flying gently caress about MLG CoD, please stop trying to accommodate them, Activision. Or train them to their own cesspit, like a Coupons-only poster.quote:Stronger toget...you know what gently caress that. We will just stop there.

No mini map is a really dumb idea for anything more than the 2v2 game mode.

Yea I’d definitely rather have the mini map. But if it doesn’t come back it’s not the end of the world.

Anything to keep eyes on the game and not the ui is a plus for me, I really hope it stays gone so it becomes an irrelevant part of the gameplay.

I think if they want to ditch the minimap, the game should have better audio and visual cues. The positional audio is not good and the return to browngray makes everything harder to see. Combine that with the map being gone and it feels like a more confusing experience IMO.

Yea my main gripe with the game right now is it’s very difficult to see enemies at a distance. I don’t have a PS4pro or a 4K tv though so that would probably help. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still having a blast. Just annoying to see a kill cam and I can barely even make myself out before I get plinked.

I don't think that is it because I recall that ranked or MLG stuff is going to have it turned on be default. That said, looks like they are caving into pressure, though. They are going to turn it on today (probably when the beta goes open), but without enemy gunfire.

This is certainly an game. It's got all their worst aspects in it. That said, it was mostly fun playing yesterday. I'm loving the return of C4. However, I hate the lack of minimap in non-HC, and I hate what they've done with respawns. It takes three full seconds to respawn after the killcam, as the game gives you a bird's eye view of the map and then zooms in to where you'll spawn. When you're spawn trapped and getting killed a second after spawning, it feels like all you're doing is watching that dumb bird's eye view.

I don't see Riot Shield or Knife in the loadouts menu, makes me worried. It would really suck if the shield was made into a stupid operator killstreak again like Blops 4.

Being up high seems very important. There’s a spot on the 10 v 10 map that overlooks the little playground and looks across to the blown out apartments that I think only has one way up. I camped that as a sniper and threw down a claymore at the top of the stairs. I really cleaned up.
