So many cool entries, but I think I have to give it to lofi, because the picture is rad as hell, and I'd never considered the weird implications of the phrase, and now that's the only thing I'll be able to think of when people say it. lofi posted:

Yeah ya'll, who's queen of this dome? Round VII - Rerepeat Repetition! It pings weird parts of our brains, and that's good for art. Tiled Patterns! I've done weird duplications! Some other scrub did repeats with small variations! What I'm getting at is that lots of art repeats stuff. You're going to make some repetition-inspired art for me - you can use repetition however you want, and I'll be judging how clever your idea is as much as the execution. You can have till Sept 18th to declare, and I want to see your submissions by Oct 2nd.

Sounds different from what I usually do, I'm in! Critiques! lofi: again, really cool, with a concept that gets weirder the longer I think about it. I dig the lighting, especially the black shadows cast by the lantern. The broken doorknob is a nice touch too. About the only things I can really think of critique wise is the curly shading on the lower pants keep reading as hair, and the hand holding the axe looks a little wonky in the thumb area. Keetron: adorable, and I learned about a delicious sounding dessert! The mice all look very personable and I like that you added shadows from the falling anise. You should pick up a free art editing program and crop it a little, and adjust the white balance, it almost always does a picture a disservice otherwise. (I'm pretty biased, I have a friend I bug all the time about it, and do this to them whenever they send me stuff they're working on) Angrymog: this was my husband's favourite entry, and I laughed too. I do agree with what you said about rough execution, but since you already know, I won't harp on it too much. Those pink bums look like they'll need sunscreen! readingatwork: I really like how crisp all the linework, and keeping the hatching all at a consistent angle, and the flat grey in the background all adds to a really clean look. I think with how clean, and how accurately proportioned everything is the feather detailing on the wings looks a little last minute. Al! that shed is haunted as gently caress, goddamn. The colours of the background adds to the gloomy and foreboding mood. I'm not entirely sure I would have pegged it as blood though, it looks more like it's glowing lava or something. I'm not entirely sure what would have worked without an external light source though. sigma 6: I wasn't sure if the belated map entry was something for "wearing your heart on your sleeve" it works for both prompts! As for the talking head, the updated tv and black suit made it look way better, and the whole effect is really pretty unsettling. Maybe not quite as bafflingly literal as a talking head could be, but still cool.

I think that's where the design failed because it would have been MUCH stronger if David Byrne's head had been instantly recognizable. I am in for this one, one, one ....and am VERY excited about it.

I am profoundly excited to announce that image uploads are working again, so winners of the Artdome are finally gonna get their gangtags! Could I ask that it be shrunk a little though? Could someone chop the black edges off the left and right, say up to the edge of the screens on the left and right? tia, and thanks for your forbearance!

Whoever wins should seriously consider “propaganda piece for the artdome” as the next prompt. https://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3898006&userid=0&perpage=40&pagenumber=1 In other news I swear to God I’ve done over 20 rough drafts for this prompt now. I like a lot of the ideas and will probably develop some of them later but so far none of them are as complex/clever/interesting as I’d like them to be.

This entry is all about repetition. Looking for a subject to draw for this challenge, it dawned on me that while normally urban painters and sketchers are looking for something that stands out, something unique, most of us urbanites actually live in a very repetitive landscape. Even a few houses in my street can be seen as carbon copies of each other in a row. At the end of the street, rounding the corner is an apartment building, a few stories high, that repeats floor after floor on small scale. It is like zooming out a bit, one can still see easy repetition as if the builders ran out of creative juice and the inhabitants desperately trying for their individualism. And a few kilometers away is a very ambitious project from the 60s and 70s, the well known area of "De Bijlmer" that went into decline right after completion and only an actual airliner crashing into one of these flats triggered gentrification. The flats depicted are 12 to 14 stories high and contain near-identical apartments, in good socialist thinking. When I left my parents to study in the Big City, I lived in one of these flats, much to the chagrin of my family who were not happy visiting, afraid their car would be broken into. Depicted in the painting is one of the remaining parts of the hexagonal setup visible, showing the flats named Grubbehoeve, Kleiburg, Groeneveen, Kruitberg, Gooioord and Kikkenstein. Zoomed out this far, the human tendency to try and repeat a single good idea into ad infinitum right into failure becomes obvious. This project made me see that the fantasy of the human designing this is limited. More importantly the human in this soulless repetition becomes nothing more than a cast of the mold his tiny house is and so is his neighbor, times a thousand. The desperation this lack of identity shapes is palpable. All three are schmincke horadim watercolors in an etchr A5 landscape sketchbook.

Keetron, the theme may be repetition, but I'm still only allowing one entry per goon - which of yours are you going for? I won't say any more till the judging happens, though other goons can if they want. Angrymog, you're lucky, the horrible cold I have right now has filled my sinuses with sympathy, and I'm willing to expectorate some onto you.

I was considering posting it twice or three times but that could get me probated or banned. I can make a single screenshot of the post and post that screenshot of the post in the same post but edited the post in the post? This might not be the repetition you wanted, but it is the repetition I can give you.
