Hows the level design? I'm leaning towards getting this game, cuz it's like dark souls with the ability to endlessly customize builds and waifus, but every time i look at the levels and scenery, they look pretty uninspired.

in the first 3 areas, it's like a blend of going through a skyrim dungeon and a dark souls area. enemy variety and exploration is decent enough. scenery is varied and there's some nice visuals; also some (more rare) boring hallways.

you're really here for the graphics, coop, boss fights, cutscenes, and character customization (both in fashion, and in skills/gear). it is a fun game, I am happy with the buy.

How is the co-op in this game? It's the one thing I haven't really heard people talk about. Is it random people on the internet like Souls or could a friend and I hook up for anime vampire duo adventures?

You can duo really easily in this. Just set a password and you and a friend can pretty much immediately begin going. You'll have to help each other clear things for progression, though, in regular Souls fashion.

Got to play a bunch. Controls are a bit floaty but there seems to be some protection about rolling off a cliff at least. Otherwise had a good time, games pretty stylish.

Are the items on the little ledges in the drop into the howling pits anything worth grabbing or can i safely skip platforming in a souls game?

e; yeah i fell to my death and then got insta revived at the bottom by my ai partner, just wanna confirm there isn't a snazzy outfit on one of those tiny ledges

You'll need to platform down there at least once. It's not that bad but not really worth it to go for all items. The main thing is to remember that if you go off a cliff, you'll drop straight down from where you left solid ground.

Game is good, really good. So far playing almost entirely as a Prometheus. I should really try some other blood classes out.

Worst boss for me so far was the Invading Executioner. Slow :byodood: But it taught me I missed picking up a class (Mercury) and once I had that particular one equipped things went a lot better.

You can roll off to get distance if you need it.

whoever decided anor londo area needed to be this length, jeebus, it's not even difficult it just goes on and on and on and feels like padding

the flashback area is cool though

The first part was pretty easy but I sure got turned around in the second. I'm still not sure if I found everything but I did get the vestige.

That was the boss that made me realize you gain ichor per melee attack not just the drain attack . I think i got too far with the ai buddy just blowing up poo poo for me. I never got to beat on guys to fill my meter much.

Still getting used to the nuances with the game systems.

I'm not gonna bang on this drum too hard or put down people who choose to do it but I feel like I should say this at least once: if you use the AI partners all the time you're missing out on a lot of what makes the game so cool. From my experience they make things more than a little easier as they absolutely trivialized the Trials of Blood I was struggling with. The game gives you an incredible amount of tools to work with in its gift system but only demands you engage with it if you're playing solo.

The AI partners are definitely a good feature for if things are getting too difficult but I strongly recommend playing without them most of the time. Save them for if something has you really frustrated.

Watching some streams of this, and I have to laugh at how you get these long sentimental scenes with sad music where people are saying goodbye to a loved one or a sibling before they are dramatically turned to stone before your eyes.
Then if you have the proper memories you just cure them immediately.

Thanks! Hopefully doing so will be a good middle ground in difficulty between what people are saying is too easy (w/ AI) and rather difficulty (solo).

I think the single thing that annoys me most about this game is that I have to repeatedly click 'search for distress signals' to try and help someone else in coop.

Just let me queue up or click on ground marks like in DkS.

Beat that Miku lady everyone seems to have a hard time with and she was about as hard as that dickhole butterfly, started thinking about how I was getting tired of big piles of urban debris above ground and in holes and suddenly BAM! Literally Anor Londo! If as I ask nice can Sen's fortress show up next?

How does this game fare in the exploration department? Does it feel pretty rewarding or is it dull? That’s my favorite part of dark souls.

There's a lot of items you won't find if you don't go exploring, some of them required to unlock skills, and there's Souls-style shortcut opening. Outside of the home base and the "Depths" (optional dungeons you open by finding maps), everything is connected.

After you reach 100% on an area, there are also NPCs who will show up in that area, and they can have shops or short sidequests.

both are good. coop multiplayer is similar to dark souls but a little rougher around the edges for joining people's games (different interface, go to menu to call or join). you can rebind whatever keys and kb+m play works well.

Infinity Gaia

Well, things are "connected", don't get excited about Dark Souls 1 level stuff here. Everything is "connected" through suspiciously long and mostly featureless corridors.

Water Hatsune Miku was a pretty fun fight. I'm glad I took the suggestion from someone here and started playing without the AI companions, they really DO make stuff way too easy, even if I do miss their near constant prattling about random poo poo you see.

Edit: Also I have yet to successfully join someone else's game and am starting to wonder if it's some stupid firewall issue. Every time I search for signals, even with all my settings set to open, I get nothing.

Yeah, I came two seconds from buying this at the store earlier but I think I'm gonna at least wait for a price drop to try it. Fascinating environments and deep exploration are what really sells me on a game like this, and from the videos I watched it looks a bit bland in that dept. It looks all right otherwise though.

Especially since codes you get later will often have better stats and provide better gifts than ones you get early in the game so you wanna unlock as much as possible.

Think you just need to beat the boss of an area for the NPC to show up. The 100% seems to be for chests and maybe vestiges? I have 100% and I use that scan for drops ability and still see I have things to pick up (that I can never find)

the percentage is only for how much of the map you've revealed (so mistles found)
