Coming from dark souls the estus thingy here bugs the poo poo out of me. Estus healing you early in dark souls covered about 60-80% of your hp. Here you're healing 300-400 (varies by class it seems) out of 1200 hp. I do hope healing scales as you progress. I've come across the Regen extensions but nothing to improve heal amount yet.

it's funny how this game is to dark souls what God eater is for monster Hunter difficulty wise: optional AI partners as strong as you are and the ability to revive a partner without major consequences. I kinda wish they tried going more in their own direction like god eater does, though. This is almost beat for beat dark souls, with the slow and meandering cutscenes from god eater. and here, if you skip them you might miss what to do next.

Okay I've found the Source at the cathedral or whatever and I think I've totally lost the thread on the this plot. Okay so is Karen the Queen then? I thought that was the Cruz lady? And regardless now we have to go do a Simon's quest and find a bunch of queen bits? Did the government build the Anor Lando set for Aurora to nap in?

There's no maybe about it. He just finished talking about how much he treasures his friends, and wants to make sure they all survive this terrible situation. Also, why do you not like him? He's friendly towards everyone who isn't being an rear end in a top hat, and is ready to throw himself into danger to save people he doesn't even know. I'd understand if he was a rude dudebro, but he's just been a nice guy the whole time.

finished the game, not sure how to get the other endings. im sure it'll be something super convoluted overall really enjoyed it! the level design is middling at best but the blood code system with gifts and ichor is super cool and encourages experimentation in ways that souls never did

Yakumo is so cool that he'll actually stand in front of you and take bullet shots while you fire back at other bayonet lost (Other AI does that too prob but Yakumo is cool and my friend)

Yakumo gives you a shield buff and that means a lot i've made it past the anor londo area and i'm honestly glad to report the level design is nowhere near as bad. it's such a weird anomaly, it's like someone got really horney on main for dark souls shortcuts like doors that open on one side and kick-down ladders
