Anyway I love this mountain boss. At first it seems like the kid just imagined himself as a big ol moose knight which is cute... but then in phase 2 he loses the shield and breaks out SUPERHERO ROCKET BLASTERS POWWWWWW Fitting with his cute lil rocket backpack

Jesus christ that mountain boss is up there with the best of Souls bosses, what an incredible fight. I barely won. This game rules! E: Omg lmfao In the cutscene after you revive him he wears his little hat on his giant armor head. God this game is good. Regy Rusty fucked around with this message at 22:44 on Sep 29, 2019 |

Hit Stripper Miku boss, did not go in prepared. Need to level up due to the fact I'm level 9 and have very little room for error on health. Haven't really found my preferred Blood Code yet, Prometheus is some what nice but I definitely prefer more range options.

really enjoyed this game but the environments are super lazy. post-apoc city, more post-apoc city, dark cave, more dark cave, post-apoc city but on fire, post-apoc city but with sand everywhere, anor londo, anor londo but with less ambient light would have loved like a forest level or something green to really break up the monotony. the mountain was cool but it was the only place that actually stood out

I haven't even seen this stripper pole boss. Where is that when people are hitting 9? I just cleared the trenches and was like level 20, I did do like "half the foggy area before the story was like you should go back and do the other path!". The enemies in there were dropping truck tons of haze.

Ohhh that's weird the cutscene in the middle of that area is like "hmm we must've missed something let's go back" but then I guess you get another ?? scene right after that which might invite you to continue.

How's the difficulty level of the rest of the game as compared to the demo? I usually bounce off soulslikes for their difficulty but this one didn't seem too bad, I did the Oliver fight in like three tries, which is good for me. Still probably need to spend some time wrapping my head around the parry/block mechanics and stuff but I could see myself enjoying this game overall unless it gets punishingly hard later. Also I could probably pay full price and get my money's worth just in the character creator alone. Jesus christ.

Still probably need to spend some time wrapping my head around the parry/block mechanics and stuff but I could see myself enjoying this game overall unless it gets punishingly hard later. The thing with this game is that the AI partners function basically as an easy mode - even more so than summons do in Dark Souls. They're extremely strong and can even revive you on death if they have enough HP. So using them or going without them makes the game pretty easy or much harder as you like. On another note, as I'm now deep in the game I'm looking more into tweaking my builds and stuff so I've been examining transformation. Most of them are straightforward like elemental or status effects and so on. But I'm a little confused on the point of Intensification. In Souls games you'd expect it and Fortification to be opposites, like Raw and the various scaling infusions in DS3. But that's not the case here. The only downside to Fortification is added weight. Intensification meanwhile raises the scaling, but also hugely drops the base stats so that in all the cases I've tested it would do less damage than not transforming it, even on a character with S in the applicable stat. So what's the deal here, when would you ever want to use Intensification? Regy Rusty fucked around with this message at 01:59 on Sep 30, 2019 |

For the most part I'd consider it easier than Souls because you have permanent, unlimited access to an AI partner that's for the most part pretty competent and doesn't have any nerfs to their damage or anything, and can also rez you from death (and you them, in turn). It's harder in *some* ways in say levels don't quite make as big a difference as in Souls games since you can't allocate stat points (so you can't beef up your HP and have a super comfy damage margin, which is my usual way to mitigate danger in Souls), and some of the level design and enemy position can be downright frustrating. But the traditional bottlenecks of Souls games (bosses) tend to be much less harder in Code Vein.

Of course I write that about easy mode and then immediately stumble on the worst fight in the game - TWO boreal brutes in the depths. Even the AI isn't helping me much here. This is ridiculous!

The most efficient way I've had to kill them is to get them stuck on terrain and use the Big Fireball for like 3600 damage a pop so I have no idea what I'd do in a square room

I've fought two bosses past the demo part so far, and they both had attacks that took off 9/10ths of my HP if I didn't dodge roll them perfectly. It's definitely hard solo, to the point of feeling unfair at times - there's some ridiculously fast single digit windup frames on some enemies.

I was having a bit of a problem with playing with AIs being too easy and playing without being too hard, until I got Mia, who is probably the least effective AI companion, for a decent enough middle ground. Still a bit easy, but better than with any of the others. Especially Yakumo. Yakumo is ridiculously easy mode.

Yeah Yakumo is easily the best partner with the free shield he doles out to you, ontop of just hitting like a truck and being tanky

That's the one I was talking about. I dunno either those guys are absolutely absurd. Overall I don't think the game is balanced to be using an AI partner all the time as I'm getting along fine without one and have beaten all the main bosses solo. But there are certain sections that are more annoying than fun alone and there I'm glad I can pull out a partner to get me through it. And then there's that room.

I think the game is a better experience without a partner , but it feels like you take more damage compared to darksouls even. Feels like you encounter less enemies that come solo in code vein.
