Also from the character book:

Shoji wears a mask because when he was younger, his scary face made a little girl cry.

Sero deeply respects "that one American hero that can shoot spider threads".

The impression I got was that Mt. Lady wouldn't have minded it being that way but Kamui Woods was uninterested.

Don't worry, they've not idiots. They're pro heroes! They've had Detnerat Company in to go over every element of their office. Specialist lifestyle consultants have familiarized themselves with every part of Endevor's operations, and then fireproofed everything in the building. It wasn't cheap, but that's the price we pay to keep us safe from villains.

I think he's faster, tougher, and smarter than the comics normally give him credit for (being able to lift multiple tons/being a demi-genius inventor), so he's considerably more high-spec than the comics shows off, but am I missing something?

Spider-Sense, by itself, would be an excellent quirk, but he's also a Mei-level genius inventor and has super strength and super agility.

During the wild and crazy time where Doc Ock was in Peter Parker's body, Ock does some crime fighting and is incredibly disturbed to learn that Peter's sheer strength could effortlessly kill just about any of his rogue's gallery with one punch.

He holds back because he's not crazy about killing and also great responsibility and all that.

I saw someone recently phrase it as "Spider-Man has the powers needed to win every fight" and it's pretty much true. While he isn't top-tier in every field he's absurdly strong, absurdly fast, absurdly durable and has precognition. In Quirk terms he basically has an entire suite of skills any one of which would make him a top tier hero.

Though, that one was just some bad writing.

That doesn't change the fact that Spider-man IS still way more dangerous and powerful than pretty much anyone but a couple of people realize, largely because he's usually really holding back. He loses his cool or has to get serious every so often.

From left to right in the first panel: Bishop (singlehandedly ended most of humanity's future in multiple timelines, his power is LITERALLY TO ABSORB KINETIC ENERGY, still gets punched out here), Doc Samson (fights/hangs with/provides licensed psychiatric care to The Hulk in his weight class regularly), Radioactive Man (fights Thor seriously on the regular nbd), Blizzard (longtime Spider-man villain, ice-powers, knows exactly how he fights, still gets chumped here), and of course, Mister Fantastic, one of Marvel's oldest and most reknowned (and personally OP powers-wise in his stretchy bullshit) heroes and Spider-man's closest friends. Civil War was dumb, but it had a few good moments.

Also, The Amazing Spider-man and The Spectacular Spider-man are two of his oldest individual comic series.

Getting one hit on people doesn't seem that wild honestly. I wish at any point all this strength that Spider-Man supposedly has were available to you in a playable game beyond just a QTE. By all means I think he's like, Mr. Incredible strong and here am still having to hit Rhino with a bunch of girders and concrete to weaken him first.

And I've heard tons of people talking about weird poo poo Spider-Man does like that time he broke out of a cocoon so he'd have internal webbing in his wrists like in the Raimi movies but what's crazy about Mr. Fantastic?

Well, like I said, he's pretty much always holding back tremendously, even against his super-villains, because he's normally not angry enough to forget that they're still people, and he doesn't want to put people in the hospital or a grave if he can help it. Judging someone's capabilities by videogames also isn't always the best metric, particularly when people they regularly fight are boss characters in said games and their thematic aspect in their boss fight is being super tough. The fact that Spider-man has, for instance, absolutely dominated and savaged Alexei (The Rhino) when he's in a bad mood and catches him visiting a graveyard and misinterprets the situation doesn't really mean much to his appearance in a vidya where his job is to be 'the tough boss you need to use the environment on'. Also, none of the people on that page he got the 'one hit' on got up for the rest of the fight, so...

Also, Mister Fantastic is...well, I'll admit, I'm not a Fantastic 4 expert, but let's just say that he makes Luffy's stretchiness...well, I won't say he puts it to shame, because they fight in different ways, and he's usually a somewhat more cerebral character rather than a fighty one, but, for instance, imagine Luffy's general 'immunity to getting punched' properties (setting haki aside) and magnify that considerably. Spider-man kicking him in the neck still put him down there, like he did the others.

When Spider-man gets angry, he tends to do things like threaten to smash people with the subway car he's holding in the air over his head, or casually grab and mangle his usual 'whole issue per fight' villains in one panel while he stalks groups of them from the shadows/ceilings like he was The Predator, and so forth. Pretty much everyone, Peter included, tends to agree that it's a good thing Spider-man channels his anger into insulting people while very gently punching them rather than being quiet while he hits them as hard as he can.

Basically, Spider-man is like a combination of Sero and, like, 75% Deku, and then add precognitive danger-sensing he can use to guide his fighting and being tough as gently caress on top of that. There's a reason he was pretty much fighting super-villains (and street crime) all day every day even as a teenager without ever seriously losing or getting caught by the police, either.

One can certainly see why Sero would really look up to 'him'.

I was just planning to post one page showing that Spider-man is a cool dude who's really good at beating people up, I didn't exactly plan to write a dissertation here.
