Part way through the show, my review is this: I love the aesthetic. It's kitschy in just the right way. It's not a serious competitor like AEW is, but it's got a charm that the other C tier leagues are missing. The studio audience sounding like a game show is so hilarious to me. Edit: This is my first exposure to Eddie Kingston and I think he's like immediately in my top 10. Hellblazer187 fucked around with this message at 23:47 on Oct 8, 2019 |

I got a late start on this, but I’m digging it. I loved that Austin Idol wrestling school commercial. 9000 SQUARE FEET!!!

I love how intimate this aesthetic feels. Raw and Smackdown are just so sterile compared to this.

Hellblazer187 posted:Wait did they do like 2 months worth of tapings? It says they return to ATL in December? Maybe Corgan's got a different location for tapes in November, but three days of tapings could cover like 8 or 9 weeks of hour-long shows.

A 55 minute show format doesn't seem made for cable tv, or even broadcast syndication.

Jim Cornette must be happier than a pig in slop. He's made a career out of whining about how it's not the NWA circa 1985 any more. NWA Power is looking a hell of a lot like a mid 80s NWA promotion.

Eddie Kingston promos were always the most fun part of watching Chikara. In a promotion that had time travelling knights & ants & ice creams he was so uniquely real. Every time he cut a promo you felt like this was a man very much on the edge. And yeah, this promo in particular is a real career highlight, brings a tear to my eye.

After watching this and AEW Dark, I tried to keep the ball rolling with Impact, but the crowd didn't care one iota about anything that was happening, and so neither did I. Calling NWA Powerrr was definitely the best of the three.
