Camp seems to be more reliable today, but I haven't gotten a single solo/low population lobby so I've not seen any animals.

I noticed that I get a higher camp setup chance and animal spawn rate if I just load into free roam with a specific region rather than load into leading my permanent posse. Can't drop a large camp, but at least there are things to hunt and a place to deliver them.

Well it turns out I was up to level 50 already, so immediately it only cost me 14 gold, and I've got about 3g more from the treasure maps it gave me. I should've done it earlier to have gotten the role xp bonus I guess!

Edit: actually I doublechecked and I'm only 8 gold below where I bought it. Pretty good sweet spot.

Does anyone know the specific gold bar rewards at various levels of the Outlaw pass? I'm doubtful that i'll make it to 70, and want to know how much to expect to miss out on.

I believe the Outlaw Pass gold bar rewards are:

7 gold bars at level 15
7 gold bars at level 30
7 gold bars at level 45
7 gold bars at level 60
7 gold bars at level 69

I could be wrong though - the amounts might ramp up instead of splitting evenly 7x5. Either way, by not buying the pass you wouldn't technically be missing out on any gold, but you would miss out on the cash and all the other rewards/unlocks. The only players who'd lose out on gold are those who spent the 35 gold to get the pass and didn't reach level 69.

Keep in mind the Outlaw Pass levels up very quickly. I still haven't reached level 20 in any role, but I reached Outlaw Pass level 70 before the end of September just popping in to play here and there. Even someone who waits until this Halloween to buy the pass could easily reach level 70 by Nov 18th.

Lots of game for hunting there as well, until a pubbie gallops through the pronghorn herd at full speed to get to Nazare and spoils your shot at the last second.

I saw yesterday that a feature of the Playstation 5 will be the ability to install/uninstall single and multi-player assets separately. Obviously there's a lot of overlap, but it'd be nice if PC games supported that so I could just install what was needed for multiplayer and save the single player for when I'm in the mood to replay the story.

The joke is on Rockstar because the only thing on my main ssd large enough for me to get rid of that would open up enough space for RDR2 is GTA5.

Camp has been a bit more reliable for me since yesterday, but yeah pretty much. I managed to get a solo lobby once, and I went from seeing a single owl the entire session to:

Six bucks, 15 deer, tons of birds
Various small animals (which are pretty important now for scent glands from skunks and muskrats)
A herd of fourteen bison holy poo poo
Swamp full of gators and turtles

Server repopulated after I turned in a bounty, and I saw animals actively despawning. Just blinking right out of existence.

What good is a player heavy server if I only see those other players off and on, but never see any animals?

The animal bug is really frustrating because you have to play for a while before you can be sure you’re suffering from it. At least with the camp bug you can see fairly quickly that your camp isn’t spawning but it takes a couple minutes to realize you’re not just having bad luck finding animals.

Pretty big bugs for a game that claims not to be in beta

I'm a bit burnt on RDRO so I picked up a copy of Fallout 76 to noodle around in and oh boy do I appreciate how fluid and non-glitchy RDRO is again.

Horrible drop ins, frame rate stutters, enemies whose animation don't load so that they're just a frozen sprite but you can hear and feel the gunshots, bugged quest lines.... Fallout 76 has it all and more!

"Ah," Ratz had said, at last, "the artiste."
Hey, so through liberal amounts of dicking around in GTAO I finally got all 54 cards to unlock the free collector role and actually tried the current iteration of RDO out. I actually had a camp up for like twenty minutes and got to do a resupply mission before it disappeared on me! But I have a couple questions from anyone who knows what actually the deal is:

-I've found a few perfect pelts from looting guys during bounties. Is there any reason to give them to Cripps or butchers specifically? I assume unlike single player crafting isn't really a thing.
-Is the bolt-action still OP? Is the bow worth taking for hunting or is that not really a thing in online? Is any pistol in particular worth getting?
-Can any weapons be found/earned or is it all just purchases? Also, same question but for hats.
-Seriously where is my goddamn mining hat and cool wolf and bison coats?
-If I buy the outlaw pass because it seems like I'll actually burn through all the ranks before 11/21, are the rewards retroactive? And does it stay pretty quick to rank up or do you hit a huge grind at some point like so many F2P deals?
-Is selling stolen horses and carriages to fences seriously not a thing yet?

If you sell it to the butcher you'll get paid immediately for each item. By donating to Cripps he'll turn it into goods for you to sell. As you upgrade your delivery wagon your profits per delivery will increase substantially.
Note that Cripps won't accept skinned animals, fish or meat. So you'll still have to go to the butcher to get rid of those.

Wolfsheim posted:

It's all purchases. And with stuff going in and out of the catalog you'll have to log in on a regular basis to get everything you need to play cowboy barbie. Lucky us though, Rockstar will gladly sell us gold to spend on those sweet sweet digital garments so it's easy to catch them all. Phew.

It's retroactive and it levels fast. You'll reach 70 in a short time just by trying out the new roles and playing somewhat regularly.

Wolfsheim posted:

Nope

I don't know anything about pistols, or what weapons are best. I like the bolt-action. With a scope I can use it for pretty much anything, except killing small animals without ruining their pelts.

You can get the Carcano for free by connecting a Twitch account (I think?) and that's been my go to for hunting pelts to give to Cripps.

I wasn't play when bolt action was OP, so I'm not sure if it still is, but it is pretty reliable for taking out computer bad guys quickly.

The Bolt Action and the Varmint Rifle should be your first two gets ASAP. They'll be your primary hunting tools.

I did my second ever Wild Animal Hunt event yesterday and won. :3: I was way too excited about winning too. I was really lucky; a large number of the rare animals spawned right next to me and no one else was near me. Some folks tried to take me out but I was just always on my horse and weaving around. I'm glad I hopped back into RDO after this update. I'm loving the cowboy life.

I do hope we can copy our characters over to the PC version. I really don't want to have to start over again. That trek to Bounty Hunter rank 20 is awful, though last week's legendary bounty made it easier with 1300-1500 xp payout per turn in at max bounty level.

Third (fourth?)-ing the BAR. I love that little beast.

I had a supply mission last night where I was attacked by a cougar as I left camp, then got attacked by a goddamn grizzly on the way, and then I had to kill wolves to get to the supplies.

Also, I was heading back to camp one time and what I think was my camp dog appeared. He barked, and when I approached he moved off. I followed him. He meandered a little, circled a tree, and then just took off running. What was that about? I never had any notification about a raid and when I got back to camp everything was cool.

I think some of them already can. There's nothing really stopping this from happening on PC. I think I saw this already in Battlefield V. Does Starcraft 2 couunt? Of course, there's no guarantee that if the platform supports it if the developer will utilize it.

The "main" story missions are the same regardless of honor, only the filler missions change. The current last mission for each path is the one where you defend Mrs. LeClerk in Blackwater, so if you did that one you're done outside changing your honor.
