Seeing as I play as fast as I am able, same as you, it's completely different from that :iiaca:

I'll throw you a different one - It's the same as the old person in front of your grocery store line taking longer going through checkout than you. They're not being deliberately slow and they'd love to be fit and fiddle enough to get home as quickly as possible because they probably have other things to do too, but throwing them into a separate line - one for similarly old people, the disabled, and assholes who argue with the cashier and intentionally make everyone else wait - thus making their business take even longer merely so that you can be done faster is not in fact the appropriate solution to the problem.

It's not as completely different as that. There's a ton of reasons why people play slow or fast you're just instantly equating it to ones that are sympathetic. Of course no one wants to plow over an old lady in the grocery line. They do, nevertheless, want to get the gently caress out of there quick as possible and being stuck behind slow payers sucks donkey balls. That's also a grocery store scenario, this is an entertainment game. There is NOTHING entertaining about watching you tank for 45 seconds to figure out a scry then tank for another 45s because your PC can barely handle the game. Yeah it sucks that it's not equal but you're being a burden.

And of course this has nothing to do with intentional ropers. If you want to ponder for a minute for each move that's fine, you should be matched up against other deep thinkers. If you don't want to deal with longer games then it's the same problem as I have with you.

You got six days, apparently. I win drat near half my games by self-mill; people got answers for the zombies but while they're dealing with that they either don't notice I'm drawing my entire deck or think it's a drawback and they've got me on the ropes because I'm about to mill out. Then on my last turn I play Jace, zap two cards off my deck, then use Circuitous Route/Krasis/a fresh Guild Summit/whatever to draw the rest of my deck and they explode.

Dumb jank deck that I haven't updated since rotation:

4 Healer of the Glade (M20) 176
3 Leafkin Druid (M20) 178
2 Cloudkin Seer (M20) 54
1 Forest (DAR) 267
4 Risen Reef (M20) 217

2 Quasiduplicate (GRN) 51
2 Connive // Concoct (GRN) 222
2 Hydroid Krasis (RNA) 183
2 Tamiyo, Collector of Tales (WAR) 220
8 Forest (DAR) 268
1 Disdainful Stroke (GRN) 37
1 Negate (M20) 69

Kind of like someone mentioned above. A billion Risen Reefs on the table eats a lot of cards away. Tamiyo digs for Reefs or whatever. Jace self-mills. Miling is only a back up win condition but it works.

I followed some advice from arena decklists where they suggested leaning hard on teferi because it's good against aggro and countermagic, which are the two most problematic things for you. also cutting tapped duals for off-color shocklands just to make sure they can cast your spells in the early game.

the way I found to get an edge in the mirror was to just not play any "hate" cards. opponents would have unmoored ego or ashiok or get a bunch of stuff with fae of witches, and I would just run them over anyways. unmoored ego is terrible and i have yet to lose to someone who has cast it. had a Uw vs U matchup where i played a Gingerbrute* turn 1 and then we didn't cast anything for 4 more turns, then we started shoving a combined 7 Secretkeepers and Didn't Say Pleases at each other before they conceded at 13 life and 15 cards remaining in their deck, it fuckin ruled

i moved Secretkeeper #2 to the main over a Jousting Dummy after a couple games, went 7-1 in gold rank. no idea if Dance was correct over playing 2x Reave Soul, 2x Revenge of Ravens but i wanted to meme a little and there's no finer feeling that Dancing for 6 for Egg, Egg, Cauldron, Gingerbrute, then drawing Mystic Sanctuary off eggs and putting Dance back on top.
