I think some of the reason for that is the way that it feels kind of crappy to switch to a brand new gun with no attachments. It would be nice if marksman rifles came with some kind of optic, getting the red dot sight on the lever action rifle made a pretty decent difference.

The only thing that seems to work for me is skirting the edges of the maps and hiding in enclosed spaces with my 725 like some fugitive on the run

There's no specialist bonus for getting 8 kills with specialist mode like there was in mw3, is there? Hearing "SPECIALIST BONUS ACHIEVED" and then turning into superman was seriously one of my favorite things in the entire series.

Speaking of field upgrades, I really thought I wanted the dead silent perk, but it turns out I'm a filthy camper POS and I'm much better served with the ammo box and its infinite ammo since that allows me to strike up my fireplace, assemble my tent and plant my claymores in the cheapest possible spot on every map and then never move

It seems to be a crapshoot. Most games will have 3-4 people that absolutely carry the teams. Sometimes it's just one dude that has 62 of the 75 kills sprinting around with a shotgun landing midair headshots (I wonder how that is..) I've mostly been playing realism mode, so primarily TDM - and the spread there is usually around 20 points. One game ended 69 to 69 thought, that was nice.

Not the best sniper, but I'm having fun with the Dragunov with scout scope and running with claymores. I basically prowl the perimeter of the map cutting off flankers and running up kill streaks. Had two really long killstreaks in a single match last night, like 7 and 8.

I was on the recieving end of that yesterday and even knowing where the guy was and having my gun ready I would still get got every time til someone spawned at the other location and was able to flank him. It was so annoying.

A good distillation of why Domination often has large point differentials on COD, I was playing TDM last night and a guy piped over of the mic and said "Glad this isn't Domination finally, its terrible my kill death ratio always sucks." A lot of the community are not focusing on the right stuff still.
